Monday Check-in
How was your weekend? What are your plans for the upcoming week?
I spent the weekend just taking care of my weekly chores. I had been feeling out of sorts all of last week so I concentrated on making sure my body stayed hydrated and I had all my supplements. I gave in and took a nap both Saturday and Sunday even with my 9 hours of sleep each night. Usually if I take a nap, I find it hard to sleep at night, but not this weekend.
Hopefully, I just needed the extra sleep. This morning I woke up and can finally say that sluggish and achey feeling is gone.
I never thought I would be grateful that there is no sun predicted for today, but lots of rain. We desperately need the rain. My lawn is dried out and already straw. We are already in a more than 5 inch deficit for rain here in the Sandhills.
Today I have plans to keep my food high in protein, make sure I stay hydrated and take all supplements.
Hope you all have a Wonderful Monday!
This weekend started off with the monthly support group meeting and while it was smaller than expected, we still had quite a large turn out. It was great to see so many old and new faces.
After the support group meeting, we spent the day preparing for Sarah's Sweet Sixteen party, which unfortunately was not the 'bash' Sarah was hoping for because only about 8 of the 40 people expected showed up. The first half was painfully awkward, but I mentioned to Sarah that those who showed up were truly some of her closest friends that really love her and she agreed. While it was very disappointing and somewhat embarrassing for her, I think that she was able to have a nice time with the few friends that did come.
Yesterday we recovered from the late night out and all of the work required to throw and cleanup from the party. We also worked on preparing the house for the move coming up later this week.
Today we will continue to prepare for the upcoming move. As soon as I finish this post I need to see about getting my supplements and having a quick breakfast with some lean protein.
I hope everyone has a good day.

We decided to all bring appetizers for our food and since one of the girls has been diabetic since she was an infant I knew that I should be able to have some good food options. Turns out that we all love the same things....bruschetta, chicken nachos, crab dip, hummus and chicken salad and GREEK yogurt. I love it when things turn out to be bypass friendly.
Now to get this week behind me and I'll be a happy camper (literally). Today is my only full day of work that I have scheduled. tomorrow I leave early to get the bowel prep started (UGGGHHHH) and Wednesday is colonoscopy time. Thursday is the appointment with the Pain Management doc about the tailbone (I think it's actually gotten better) but now the arthritis in the hips and pelvis is really acting up so hopefully that will be addressed. Then if I survive all of this - Friday we leave to go camping.
Oh......and my Baby boy leaves today for New Orleans and a short term trip to work with Samaritans Purse on a rebuild project from Hurricane Katrina. He's a little nervous - actually a whole lot nervous since he's never flown or been away from home without me or his brother. I expect that he'll fly home a very different young man than when he leaves in a few hours.

Iris,
I'm so glad to hear that you had such a lovely, restorative week-end. You know, I have found that more often than not, many of the gatherings I go to these days are bypass friendly. I think that maybe more often than not maybe many of the gatherings I had gone to were weightloss/maintenance friendly before, but I didn't have my eyes tuned to it. That or things have changed a lot in the last few years. At any rate, I'm so glad to hear that it was successful in so many ways.
I'm sorry to hear that you have a challenging week ahead, but I'm hoping that you get some resolutions that will make life more comfortable and I'll bet that you'll really enjoy the camping trip that will cap off the week.
I'll bet your sweet boy will return a new young man from his journey. I'm sure he'll learn a lot while he's there about so many things, but especially about himself. Isn't wonderful to watch them fly? We spend a lifetime helping them learn how do it and then when they actually do, I find it just exhilarating. I'll bet the discussions he'll have with you when he returns will be so much about what he saw and felt and then about how it made him feel and changed his view of the world.
Have a good week my friend.

Hi Jennifer,
It's great to see you again. You've been missed. It sounds like you are one very busy lady and it's good to know that you have a support group going. I often am asked about support groups in other parts of the state, so it's good to know that there's one in your area.
I hope to see you more often.

The past week has been extremely stressfuk and at the same time fun. We had EOGs (state tests) last week and my daughter is in 4th grade. She did fine but, as I've said before, the stress of being a mom of a test-taker is so much different than being responsible for other children's scores. I'm thankful I don't have to be directly responsible for a whole classroom anymore but indirectly I am responsible for the students I see. So it's still stressful.
Since receiving the scores Friday morning I have been helping with remediation - actually I take the students who passed while the classroom teacher works with those who didn't pass to get them ready for the retake. I am woring with 4th graders for 3 hrs each morning. We're reading A Wrinkle in Time and working on a computer program for math,
Thursday night I achieved Lifetime status at Weigh****chers. Yay!!! Friday night we took my daughter and her friend bowling for doing well on EOGs (my youngest went too of course). Had a ball and then ate mexican! Chicken Chile Relleno! Yum!!! Saturday I took the girls to the Kids Walk at the Relay for Life. Spent a couple of hours there then went to get pool supplies ($300!!! Arrggghhh!!!). Came home to lay out for a while but only stayed out about 20 minutes - too hot!!! Sunday the girls spent the afternoon with grammy and grampy so I had a relaxing afternoon and today it started all over again! Oh, along with taking a group of my students to a sister school for a program on mules in the rain. Interesting, huh?
As far as food today -
B - Click, milk, splenda in shaker bottle
L - leftover smothered chicken from yesterday (grilled chicken breast, grilled onions and mushrooms, melted cheese)
D - Chicken with gravy (my version - chicken gravy and golden mushroom soup), 1 tbs rice (most I've had since wls), veggies
s - 1/4 cp Cherry Garcia ice cream
No exercise - still can't seem to get any extra in other than walking the school halls 15 billion times a day. Will start soon - I promise!!!
