My surgery was Sept 2 2010, I have lost 106 lbs. and can't seem to loose anymore. I have had a few stand stills along the way, but this one has lasted 2 months. So I am like 202 lbs. how frustrating that I cannot seem to get below 200. I know my diet and lack of exercise are probably the culprit, but it seems so hard to get back on track. I have packed all healthy food for work tonight, and am gonna try to do better. Just seems lots of my old habits have slipped back in, and I don't want that to continue. Any suggestions. Also thinking of getting me some Thiamine, do I need to take anything with that for it to metabolize?

Thanks, Michelle

Michelle,

First of all, congratulations on your significant success. Losing more than 100 lbs in phenomenal.  I also really do hear the disappointment you are expressing in not meeting the goals you have set for yourself. The good news is that you have recognized that some of the old habits have slipped back in and are working to change those things. Also, while the malabsorption that propelled you forward in the early part of your journey has resolved to a point that it is no longer causing the weight loss it did during your first year, you still have your pouch and can leverage that to help you trim off even more weight. Getting back to some basics where you leverage your pouch will help you to shed. A friend of mine runs a support group that just might provide you with some of the direct support that you need to get the ball rolling. It's called the Back on Track Together group: http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/backontracktogether/

Also, after I originally lost my weight, I had about a 20 lb regain. The things that helped me were the 'Beck Diet Solution' book and workbook that helped me to 'readjust' my thinking about entitlement, reward and punishment as it relates to food. I also found that I was able to get my weight under control by logging my intake on mydailyplate.com. When I did that I saw that my carb percentage was WAY UP... often in the 50 percent range. When I readjusted my intake so that my protein percentage was in the 40 to 50 percent range, which of course dropped my carb intake, my weight dropped.

Hang in there and know that you have your tool and can leverage it.

Michelle,

The Beck Diet Solution comes as a book and workbook. They are not the same, but are complimentary and I strongly suggest that you get both. You can get a pretty good deal if you look for them on Amazon.

Good luck and again, congratulations for all that you have done and for deciding to take the bull by the horns to get where you'd like to be.
