Anyone had to hire an Attorney and had good results?

Ive been turned down twice and getting ready to appeal again but thinking that getting an Attorney might help.  Does anyone have any recommendations for one or what kind I need to have?

They just keep jerking me around but I think my Dr.  office insurance girl might be some of the problem cause shes not paying attention.  They deny me and require me to do 1-2 more things then when I do them they find something else that they didnt mention and final deny me on that,   Its infuriating to say the least.

Thank You

Since you are here in Greensboro have you checked out Central Carolina Surgery? They have great docs there and Wesley Long is where the surgery is done. The staff is pretty good with setting the requirements and since they are now a COE insurance is less difficult with approval. You can PM me and I can get you the phone numbers and info about next weeks support group meeting.

Hi Ann,
When I first started this 2 years ago I tried to get it done there but they had just stoped taking Medicaid,  they may have changed so I will give them a call.  Actually I was looking into the Duke program.  I did attend a few of the meetings here in Greensboro its been a year since I went to one so I may have seen you there.
Thanks Tracey

Tracey,
First I want to tell you not to give up.
It took me almost three years to get a surgery date and the waiting part was way worse than the surgery.
I was also denied.
I cant even remeber why but what I did was I wrote a letter to bcbs telling them what life was like for a super morbid obese person and after I hand delivered the letter I was approved in two weeks.
Not all situations are the same but I knew I needed this surgery.
At one time my highest weight was 680lbs.
Before surgery I lost 300lbs on my own.
I have no regrets with having surgery and  never gave up getting approved.
Sometimes I wanted to pull my hair out but it did happen.
I have also learned to accept I will never eat like I did in the past but to have my health and to feel as good as I do to this day it was all so worth it to me.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

RNY on 06/08/09 with
I don't know if this will help..... But I got surgery by Dr. Joya in Mexico. The total cost was $12,500 and for that I got Airfare, 5 nights in a hotel (one was pre-op) 4 days in the hospital and all surgery related costs. There are companies that finance surgery. With the cost here (NC) of $40,000 for RNY it wasn't much more than the surgery would have cost co-pay wise since it's not a one time all inclusive deal. There fees for this and that, it gets to adding up, so that when all is said and done, it's about the same or so I have been told by those with insurance. Plus I didn't have to jump threw endless hoops.

PS. the price is lower right now it's $12,000 or was last week when my mother was looking into getting a revision from her lapband.

I'm going to Duke for the Duodenal Switch - I have Medicaid, too. I have been very pleased with them so far.
