Hello,

I am stopping in to say hello-and introduce myself.
I have been considering surgery for over 2 years and for the past 18 months have been on a modified protein shake program. Meaning I use protein shakes about twice a day most days of the weeks...........a  plan developed by me. =0)
The past several months I have been reading everything I can find on WLS and learning so much from each of you. There really is nothing like life lessons! I of course know the medical team has much to share, and I also believe the folks who have walked my walk will become some of my greatest teachers and support for this journey.
I look forward to getting to know you and share myself with you. I am working with the folks at Wake Surgical and Dr. Sharp So far I am very impressed with each of them with this office. I have been scheduled for a sleep study, upper GI, met with a nutritionist and will soon meet with a psychologist.
~Take care,
Harriet

Well CONGRATULATIONS on starting a life changing journey. It is a big step to a healthier you. I had a RNY in Dec of 2009 and I am feeling great. I had a rough start and it took me over three months to be happy I did it, but now I am healthier and happier than ever. I have lost 94 pounds and you can do it to. I am here if you have any questions or concerns I can answer.
It seems this website is somewhat of an addiction. I am learning and trying to help others all in the same place. Welcome
Good luck
Audra

I am also new here.  I joined the site a while back but am just now going to get going on WLS.  We are on very similar tracks!  I just saw Dr NG. at Wake Surgical a few weeks back.  I had the sleep study done Monday night, seeing the psychologist on Monday and getting the upper GI done on the 27th.  Still waiting for the nutritionalist.

I haven't been able to attend any of the support group meetings.  My boys have been tracked out and we were busy.  I am going to try and make the one on the 20th.  Maybe I will see you there.

Dear Harriet,

Welcome to the group! I think you will find that this is warm, welcoming and supportive group. I look forward to getting to know you as you ask questions and share your experiences.

I run a fairly large support group in Raleigh for people who have had or are considering WLS; there are almost 300 members, but normally we have about 30 to 50 who attend the monthly general meetings. We are having our monthly general meeting this Saturday and you are most welcome to come. I also host special interest groups several times a month and you are welcome to attend any of those. The focus of discussions at those groups are generally directed to the interest of the group, but anyone is welcome to attend. If want information about any of the upcoming support group meetings please go to www.meetup.com/nc-wls

Wishing you all the best as you make this incredible, life changing journey.
