Sharing my day with you guys!
I had a very happy mother's day. I stepped on those insane scales and sometime during the week I lost 4 additional pounds. I had surgery on December 18th, 2009 and to date I have lost 62 pounds. I have 47 more to go. Seems that the scales know when I need a boost. Just when I think I am not doing something right or not exercising enough, it tells me I have lost 4 pounds.
I am not having any problems eating. I have not once had dumping. So I have to be doing something right. I am patiently waiting for the tomatoes that we planted to pop out and become ripe......love a fresh tomato! Everyday someone comments on how good I look that makes me feel terrific. Everyone has been so wonderful to me.
I am looking forward to the moment that I can reach below the 200's. I will have to celebrate by doing something. Have not figured out what to do for that. I only hope that 5 years from now I can still report the same good news.

Well CONGRATULATIONS, you are doing fabulous. I also had surgery in Dec of 09 and I am enjoying life. I also lose much slower now(which is a good thinkg for me) about a pound or two a week. Then sometimes, just like you, a four or five will show on the scale. So, I just keep doing what I know I am supposed to. My sister is 6 years out and still doing well. That encourages me that I can do this longterm.
I remember hitting the one hundreds just a couple weeks ago, this not only met that goal but then my husband was able to pick me up and carry me down the hall (Yippie), that was sooooo cool. I have only weighed less than him 3 times in 20 years.
I wish all the best for you. Keep up the great work

thank you! Wow your sister is 6 years out? She is definitely doing something right. What does she eat? I always wonder what I will be eating a year from now. I am like you, there hasn't been but a few times that I have weighted less than my husband. He has been so supportive. He cooks his own meals. Of course, I don't think he is ready to pick me up just yet, he might throw his back out! LOL.
What do you eat? I find suggestions in what others eat.
thanks for responding.

My sister eats like a regular size person should eat, her downfall is grazing. Without her I do not think I could have made it through this. My husband is a gem and supportive but it really helped to be able to cry, whine or laugh with someone who has been there. My sister never had a sweet tooth, and she never dumped from sugar but she only has a bite of sweets rarely. Other than that she eats normal stuff no other things that bother her. She was like the poster child for the RNY. And 6 years ago the mortality was much greater.
Here is an example of my day in food:
pre-breakfast--24oz water
b---hard boiled egg and fruit 1/4 cup
snack---string chees
l----shrimp ****tail and 1/4 cup low fat potatoe salad
24oz water
snack---peanuts(roasted in the shell no salt)
dinner---4 chicken nuggets from chick fil a(hockey game night)
lg unsweet tea with splenda
snack----grain toast higher in protein
Should have had a shake but tooooo tired.

Hey Audra...
Here is a typical work eating day for me.
>drink protein shake on my way to work (unjury)
>snack--raw cabbage / wee brie / cottage cheese (one of these)
>lunch - 6 turkey ****tail weiners with a cut up roma tomato -- or I eat a lot of Tyson grilled chicken breast. If we go out for lunch at work I usually get a grilled chicken breast and asparagus at O'Charlies.
>snack - chobani yogurt with 1/4 cup blueberries--I usually put some splenda in the yogurt to cut out some of the buttermilk like flavor--I would lick the container if I could get my head in it. Sometimes I cut up an apple. Also I eat a lot of mushrooms.
>ride home --usually cheese sticks or beef jerky
>dinner - salad (lettece, carrots, sweet peas, sesame seeds, low fat thousand island dressing)
>LOVE--Diamond almonds with sea salt--have a handful of these usually every day.
I do good with my water on the weekends but while I am working, not so much. I also drink a lot of Skinny Hazelnut Latte's from Starbucks. I make these at home. When I go grocery shopping - I go to Harris Teeter, they always have cheese and meat samples out so I eat these.
I have 2 soup recipes that I eat a lot of. Would you be interested in these? If so I will give you the recipe.
One thing I notice that I do is I will eat until I get that full feeling and I stop. But an hour or so later I will eat a little more. It is usually on something that I got at lunch and was unable to finish. Do you ever do this? Is that what they call grazing?
I enjoy talking with you. Tell me about yourself.
Have a good DAY!!!

I do very rarely eat a little but an hour later, usually if I ate to fast or did not chew enough, I give myself time to digest and then finish the meal. I try not to graze. I am on a pretty regular eating every 3 hours, something even if it is just peanuts. This keeps me from getting to hungry, or eating to fast because I am hungry.
I wished I liked yogurt, I see so many peolpe that eat it and the new Greek stuff is high in protein, but I can not stomach the taste or consistency. I am one of those weird people who do not like things like jello, pudding, or yogurt. Oh well I have found enough to eat so far, things are going very well.
I am having a fun day today, as I just had my hair cut and highlighted (7+inches) also wore a new form fitting dress to work, so everyone is oohing and awing. I can not believe I am only 15 pounds from my personal goal. I will be seeing the 180's by the weekend i believe. I lost a pound yesterday, so my sister said it was from getting all the hair cut off lol!.
Anyway about me. I am 39years old, a Registered Nurse at North Raleigh Christian Academy were my children go. I have an 11 year old daughter who is already struggling with weight problems, my heart breaks. I also have a 14 year old son. My husband is a wonderful man who has earned some jewels in heavan after taking such good care of me since the surgery. We have been married for 19 1/2 years and he has loved me no matter what size I have been (24-14). His biggest compliment is when he sees my boobs stick out futher than my belly does ha ha (just like a man). He is a gift straight from God. I am very close to my mom and sister and will be traveling with them to the beach this weekend and to Jamaica in June for our big 40th birthday trip.
I live in North Raleigh almost to Wake Forest. I have enjoyed this website and have even made some friends. I look forward to being able to help new patients with questions and concerns. My sister has been my rock for the RNY questions and just getting all the emotions out.

Good Evening Audra:
Good to hear from you. Lets see--> about me...
I am 50 years old, I live in Peachland, NC, about 40 miles outside of Charlotte. In the country in the sticks. I am married to my best friend, Dale for 29 years. I have a daughter, Lauren who is 26 and a son, Jared who is 23. I work at Windstream Communications, been there for 33 years, since high school. The husband is disabled so he is a house husband, -- love it. Wish we had done this years ago. My mother is still living she is 73 and doing great. My daughter works at WalMart, however she has a degree to be a surgical technician. She can't find a job and she refuses to go to Charlotte where I am sure she can find work. My son works at Bob Mayberry Hyundai selling cars. I have a sister that lives in Matthews, NC and works at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She is a nurse-anesthetist.
We love animals.
I hope when I weigh this weekend I will have lost more. We went out to eat lunch today at a Japanese restaurant and I had shrimp and mushrooms. I CRAVE salt. What's up with that? Somedays I am simply ravenous and other days I am fine. The yogurt I was telling you about Chobani, is the Greek yogurt. You should try it with the splenda. Kinda makes it taste like vanilla ice cream. Love it! I am scared to death that I am going to stretch out my stomach as I did before. I tell my friends that this also. My son also has a weight problem and I worry that my daughter will also. Tell me what you typically eat. I find I get ideas from others.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and stay cool, I think it is going to be quite hot.
Teresa

I can't wait til my tomatoes are producing as well. My plants are looking great and all of them are blooming. I find that now I love to come home and "putter" around in my garden. Before surgery I just didn't have the energy to plant one let alone maintain and enjoy it.
