Monday Checkin
Good Morning!
Just a quick note to say hello before I hit the ground running for today.
I had a lovely mother's day. Ben and Sarah took me out for brunch and I was able to enjoy it. I had scrambled eggs first, then a slice of CRISP bacon, followed by my favorite: some french toast.
We went to see 'Letters to Juliette' which was a sweet, predictable movie and then went to dinner. I had a wonderful salad, steak, a bit of baked potatoe and a crab au gratin. It was FABULOUS.
I don't eat like this everyday, but I have to say that even when enjoying things like the french toast, bacon and crab au gratin, I took care of business first by loading up on the protein and complex carbs so that I could leverage the power of my tool. This allowed me to have my 'proverbial' cake and be able to eat it too. I just love my TOOL!!!
Well, it's time to get busy.
Have a great day.

Oscar the Pouch has decided that he doesn't like chicken at all right now but he loves EGGS in any way, shape or form. It's a complete reversal to how things had been. Oh well - I think stress effects what he likes. I'll give in and baby him for a while. The plan for today is something like this:
Commute: Creamsicle Protein/Fiber Shake
Breakfast: Egg Beaters & Cheese
snack: 1/2 gala apple
Lunch: tuna Salad w/ fresh veggies & a couple of multigrain crackers
commute: Click Frappe
Dinner: Sliced ham , deviled eggs & green beans
exercise: walking after dinner (hopefully for an hour at the park)
Water: Lots of Decaf unsweet tea and crystal light.
Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Hi Iris,
Like you, I got a lot done over the weekend, but have been feeling muscles I forgot I had. That said, I think looking at beautiful flower beds must be more satisfying than looking at the freshly lined shelves. I think that the flower beds will have to wait until we get moved in and settled.
I hope that you have good day and when your day is done, I hope you get sip an iced tea whilst enjoying the fruits of your labors.
Take care,
Barbara

It's been a little while since I've posted. I'm feeling a little discouraged today. I have calcium pyro-something something disease, also known as pseudo-gout. So I can barely move my left foot, much less exercise. I found out today that this is something that will occur randomly through out my life. Great.
I was in so much pain this morning, I barely ate. I had about three small bites of a whole wheat eng muffin with 1% cheese, egg, and turkey sausage. Then a little bit ago I had half a whole wheat eng muffin with pizza sauce and 1% cheese. I feel discouraged because I know I can't exercise until at least the end of the week and I know I'm not getting enough protein because the amount of pain I'm experiencing makes it difficult for me to eat (I'm sure it's a mental thing).
Yesterday was a good day, though. I made veggie, chicken, and shrimp skewers for my mom for Mother's day. Best. Meal. Ever. I do love the charcoal taste!
Here's to hoping that things will improve in my joints in my foot and here's to trying to load on the protein for my 5pm meal.
Hope things are great with everyone else!
Fran :)
Hi Fran,
I'm sorry to hear that you are so uncomfortable. I hope it helps you to know that your lack of ability to exercise is not likely to significantly impact your weight loss. While I am not suggesting that you never return to exercising, people who never exercise will lose a significant amount of excess body fat following an RNY because of the combination of restriction and malabsorption. The place where your exercise will really become a significant factor will be maintenance of your weight loss. Re: getting in enough protein. You may want to look at some more protein dense foods, such as cottage cheese, meats and beans as you try to find some things that will work for you. If you haven't already tried them, cottage cheese pancakes are often well tolerated and seem 'light', so they might work for you.
I hope that you feel better soon and I wish you all the best in your journey.

Hey Donna,
Great to see you. We need to get together. We found a house that needs a lot of work, but allows us to keep the dogs and some of my 'stuff' so that's a good thing. We'll probably be moving next week.
You are right about Mother's Day' it was bitter sweet for me, but overall, it was as good as could be expected. I hope you had a good mother's day too.
Love you too!
