blue cross blue shield state NC?

I have this... I saw surgeon April 20th.  They submitted the paperwork into the ins April 28th.  May 3rd they needed some paper.  Dr office sent that to them.  Ok Now I am still waiting!  I have pre op this thursday.  Surgery is set for next wed...
How long did it take to be approved?  I have a ref number but it is still showing pending.  I so want this to happen!!!!!

I have BCBS State Health Plan and was approved in about a week or week and a half. It moves really fast. I actually got a letter from them saying that they support WLS. I don't think you'll have a problem getting approved. Good luck!

Can I ask how much you paid out of pocket?
I have to pay the 500 dectuable and 520 which is 20-% of the surgeon fee.  So far that is it.  I am hoping the hospital bill isn't to bad...

As Sarah said, BCBSNC is very good about WLS approvals so I think it should be fine, but I know you will sigh a big sigh of relief once you get the all clear. Let us know when you hear from them.

They called me to let me know (the hospital) that my part would be about 2,500. I requested an itemized bill and have yet to see one!

Call Donna and see what is going on. Normally Blue Cross Blue Shields of NC approves pretty quick. I was approved within a hour. Lisa sent my paperwork in and I was approved that day. I got a letter 3 days letter but already new I was approved.

But if not, maybe this will make you feel a little better. I'm just starting out, I have my seminar scheduled for May 18th. I too wish I could speed things up because I have problems with my knee which is killing me. But I know I have to go along with the program , however,  if it's as good as everyone on here says it is you'll be able to give us an update before you know it.

BCBSNC gave me approval within 2 days. I called them because I was so anxious. I had to pay my coinsurance of $2500 up front. good luck!!
