How do you get in 2 oz of liquid every hour? Im just not getting this.  As soon as I drink up to the 2oz  I begin to feel so full it's unbearable! I think my pouch is smaller than an egg????

I have a different surgeon and different program, but for three weeks after surgery we were to drink 2 oz protein at the top of the hour and 2 oz of fluid every 15 minutes. Maybe you are drinking too fast? Take small sips and if that doesn't work, maybe call your surgeon.

Shontel,

Sarah is right. You need to sip and should be able to manage about 2 ounces every 15 minutes or so. If not, contact your surgeon. The reason that you want to be getting this much in, is to ensure that you don't have an issue with dehydration, which is the number one reason that patients are readmitted to the hospital post surgery. So, it is very important that you sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Please take heart and know that it won't always be like this. I remember thinking, OMG what have I done to myself? I'll can't believe that I'll never be able to 'eat' more than this. Well, I'm here to tell you that this is just temporary. While you do have a pouch that is roughly the size of an egg, it is swollen right now and that's why just 2 ounces is hard to handle. The swelling will go down and it will get easier.

Hang in there!

BTW... If you look at our 'stats', my high weight was very similar to yours and my current weight is close to your goal. I would bet a year from now, we'll be just about the same size. Keep your eye on the prize! A healthier, slimmer you!!

I went and got the to go salad dressing containers that are 2oz. This kept me drinking the right amount and made things a little easier to manage. Maybe this will help you. Sip slow
Good luck

Thanks everyone for all of the advice.  I'm reading your responses and listening.  I'm measuring and sipping.  Yesterday and today have been a lot better getting in my fluid.  I guess I wasn't giving myself time and the whole pouch being swollen, I just didn't think about that.

You all are great!
Thank you again!

Small sips, and I remember that feeling of being full up to your ears!  It does eventually get easier, trust me.  But in the beginning, it was really hard to feel like it would ever all fit in.  Try to drink slowly and avoid straws, which may make you take in more gulps of air than intended and make you feel fuller quicker.
