Colonoscopy (sorta OT)

Okay so I'm at work and I'm a little freaked out right now. I had to do the fecal blood test smears last week. 3 of them only took me 6 days. So I finally made it through and wouldn't you know - they were positive for blood so..........colonoscopy is being scheduled.  One thing about it is for certain - after the prep for that there's no way on God's green earth that I'll be able to say I'm constipated.  UGGGHHHHH !!!!!!

I'll keep yall posted. If you notice me being hyper sensitive - call me out on it - please and thank you.

Hey girl!!  Well, I'm sorry you're going through this but I had my only ever colonscopy last year before surgery (was required) and I can honestly say that it wasn't so bad.  The prep was wayyyy worse than the procedure maybe it's because I slept through the entire thing.  Anyway, went to lunch with some friends after it was over then home for a nap.  When's the big day?

Had it done a couple of years ago and yep the prep sucks big time but once that is over the procedure is fine. You really do sleep right through it.

Iris,

Ben actually put off having his WLS because our pcp wanted him to do a colonoscopy before he referred him for surgery. Ben was soooo afraid of it that he put it off for a couple of years. After he had it done he said he couldn't believe how easy it was. As everyone else said, the prep is the worst part of it.

Hang in there!

It's a new day with new direction.  When the scheduler from my gynos called to see if I had a particular doctor I wanted to use we started discussing things and well the only local doctor that I'd really consider didn't participate with my insurance so rather than pick a random in network doc I called MY Dr. Mac in Greenville who did my bypass. His nurse and I have had the best laugh (at his expense - of course) over if he went that way or not (knowing that he insists on dong every single one of his patients endoscopes down their throats).

So Dr. Mac wants me in his office in Greenville bright and early Monday morning to see for himself what's going on. So the day starts with an office visit at 8:50. That means I leave home at the crack of dawn to be there but it's so worth it when you have complete trust and confidence in a doctor. His communication through his nurse yesterday is leaning toward my ulcer history.

It's going to be a llllloooooooonnnnnnggggggg weekend.

Don't freak!  Positive stool occult can be caused by internal hemorrhoids and completely benign colon polyps.  Breathe!  Breathe! :D

Not a lot of advice I can offer. Have not had the procedure and does not seem to be on my radar yet.

I will say relax. It may seem like it will be a long weekend but at least you have talked to the doctor and know what you possibly may be facing. I had  call from my gyn on a Thursday and missed his call. I worried all day Thursday and called him back so many times on Friday cause I just could not bear to wait until Monday. He had good and bad news so I totally get the waiting.

I'll be praying that all will be well. Hopefully it is something minor.
