Insurance Question

Finally.......I have a surgery date for the gastric by pass June 7, 2010 with Dr. Fuzz at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  My insurance has been filed, as of April 20th with BCBS ALA.
How long does it normally  take  for insurance to approve? This wait is worst than the 6 month medical supervised weigh in that my insurance required of me.

I have BCBS NC and it was super fast, like a week, maybe? You could always call the insurance company and see if they've received it!

Many thanks.....they have received all the information. It is in the "review process". Just waiting is so nerve racking.  

4 years ago BCBS of NC approved me within an hour! Guess they thought I would have a heart attack before the end of the day!

My bmi was 65 but I did not have any comorbidities. They seem to approve most of their patients fairly quick.

I have been told BCBS of ALA is more strict then BCBS of NC.? Co-workers that have used BCBS ALA have all had  other issues
My BMI is 48  but like you I do not have any comorbidities, not yet anyway....today I have ate everything I could get my hands on....this waiting is making me eat more so my BMI will probably rise. I plan on calling the insurance company next Tuesday. This will be 2 weeks of waiting.
