Sunday Checkin

Just a quick note to check in and say hello.

Life is still throwing curve balls and it's clear that it will be a while before things start to settle into a more normal 'rhythm.' I'm so glad that I have my husband, daughter and friends to help me through this... I am working hard on eat more and eating better. I've been using my little weekly pillboxes to help me try to get my supplements on a 'regular' basis.

Sarah has been on a retreat for the weekend and we are looking forward to picking her up and having a nice evening with her. I think we'll try for a mexican dinner tonight, but make sure that it is a figure friendly type of thing.

Hope you all are having a nice day and that next week will be a good one.

Hi Everyone...Happy Sunday!!

Quiet day today, Stan and i went out to breakfast on our way to donate some things to our local "no kill" animal shelter... it's always so sad to go there and see all the little homeless furbabies, but i know that they're better off there and with the fosters from there than the local "kill shelter"!

We're back home and supposedly relaxing before we had out for the evening.  We have tickets to go see Wicked tonight at DPAC... but Stan is on 27 X 7 "OnCall" for work and they just had this big thing go down at his work... so i'm thinking i'll need to call DPAC and see if i can trade in our tickets for next weekend.  He thinks this may turn into something that's going to be taking up the rest of the afternoon and most of the evening.   Oh, well... it's the chance we take when he's "OnCall".

So, now that we're staying home I'll have to figure out what to have for dinner... Have no idea, but i know it will be healthy and high protein since i ate  my limit in my days carbs at breakfast (french toast!... 1 slice and 1 1/2 slices of crisp bacon).  Maybe i'll just have to do something with shrimp or talapia... i'll have to scour the freezer to see what i have.

That's pretty much my Sunday... probably read a lo****ch TV a little... Have a good day everyone!!!

I've enjoyed a lazy Sunday. I did manage to wash 2 loads of clothes and since they're folded and sorted on the dining room table I'm doubting that we'll do the Sunday dinner thing today (unless my boys insist). I was thinking I'd get a short bike ride in this afternoon but I'm not sure that the weather is going to continue to cooperate with that idea.

Yall know how much I have complained about my tailbone. Well things have been feeling better for the past week. Then .......well. I was helping my Mom with some cabinets for a rental house they own and I didn't like how things were stacked in the truck. SO...I hopped up there and rearranged things but then decided I'd act like a kid and jump off the tailgate when I was finished. WHAT ON EARTH WAS I THINKING????? I'm not sure if my knees buckled or ankles rolled or just what happened but the next thing I knew I was sitting on the ground right flat on the princess. My next ganglion impar block was already scheduled but  at this point May 20th can't get here soon enough for my next shot.  It's not as bad today as I thought it might be....maybe I knocked it back into place?

Hi everyone,

Today wasn't my best day.  I haven't eaten well, meaning I've had about 23 grams of protein . . .I ordered grilled shrimp at a restaurant tonight and it just didn't go down well regardless of how small my bites were or how much I chewed.  This is very frustrating.

I did, however, have a break through with chicken.  I was having a lot of trouble with chicken. Every time I ate it, it felt like a 50lb weight sitting in my pouch.  Very uncomfortable.  However, today, I went to a mexican restaurant with my boyfriend and he ordered chicken nachos with cheese on the side.  I ate about 3 oz of the chicken and part of a red pepper.  It was very good and didn't cause me any issues!

Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully, the meals will feel better going down.  Takin' it day by day, you know?

Hi Fran,

I'm sorry that you are struggling. I think that you may have had a hard time with the shrimp because it was grilled and may have been overcooked so that it was a bit tough. Shrimp ****tails are very reliable early on because the shrimp is rarely overcooked when prepared that way, but if you are out, be careful with the ****tail sauce and use it sparingly because you are still probably sensitive to carbs and you don't know how much sugar may be in it. At home, shrimp ****tails using Trader Joe's house ****tail sauce that only has 1 gram of sugar is a favorite.

The reason that the chicken in your boyfriend's nacho's probably went down well, is that was likely very moist. Moist preparations of any meat will make it much easier to handle, so you may want to dig out the crock pot and put it to use. It's great to freeze small portions ... say ice cube tray size... and be able to break them out whenever you need them.  I used to do that then dump the 'cubes' into a ziplock bag and just heat up one or two at a time. Just think... Chicken thighs made with taco seasoning, pulled pork or chicken, barbeque'd beef, chili,....

Good luck as you continue to try things and remember what doesn't work today, may work tomorrow.
