Good Saturday Morning!  I am the former coordinator with Duke WLS program. To all my former patients, Hi & I hope things continue to go well.  I have heard that there has been a lot of negative and confusing information about the Duke WLS program on this board. 1) I am not with the Duke program any longer. 2) Yes, I do have cancer & did see a former patient at the treatment room.  3) I have reached an undisclosed mutually acceptable settlement with Durham Regional Hospital. 4) My only experience with the Duke WLS program from a patient perspective is that everyone wants the best for the patients and for those patients to be succesful. Everyone works really hard to make sure the patients will have the best experience possible. I know the forms, paperwork & time can be frustrating and confusing but I can assure you they are all about safety & the best possible outcomes.  There are some excellent staff at Duke and they want only the best for all their patients.

However, I can tell you any of the COE programs are going to give you a wonderful patient experience not unlike the Duke program.  The main thing is to follow the rules and you will be succesful.

I hope the name calling will stop.  There is no need to call anyone on this forum a troll or anything else for that matter.  Everyone goes on here in good faith and are entitled to say what they need to say without being called names.

Best of Luck to All!!  Anyone who chooses this surgery has made a huge step towards a healthier life!  Mary

Well my post was deleted by some unknown, silent moderator so there's not much I can say. But before you get up in arms about the word troll, you should check out it's definition as it applies to forums. The best place I can send you is here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll

Since said troll was deactivated, there's not much else I can comment on, since I'm not familiar with the issues.

((((Mary)))),

I have been out of the loop for a while due to our own significant family issues. I came back to a swirl of posts about things going on at Duke. I haven't been back to Duke for a support group meeting since the holidays and haven't talked to anyone there directly, so I have no idea about what has been going on and just recently heard of your departure and your battle with cancer. Please know that from a patient perspective you and your services will be greatly missed.  From a personal perspective I will miss your warmth and support. I also will have you in my thoughts and prayers as you make your way through the journey you have ahead.

I agree that from my own experience, the staff of Duke WLS have always acted with our best interests at heart. I believe that it is the support of the program that has enabled Ben and I to be as successful as we have been and continue to be. Thank you for contribution to that success.

Wishing you all the best as you move forward.

Warmly,

Barbara
