Hi all.  I haven't been on here in a while...and I can tell it.  I have maintained my original goal but would really like to start to lose about 5 or 6 more lbs.  I know that part of not being able to get there is because I hav not been exercising.  It is so hard in the winter and when school is in...I know...blah, blah, blah.  It's an excuse and I know it.  I got below my goal two weeks ago and it's all because my mom, sister and I walked a 10k in Richmond and it was great!!!  There bands and people cheering you on the whole way and it was fun to do it with so many other people.  AND we didn't come in last!  After that I was a lb below my goal.  So I know if I exercise it will really help.  I really want to get into running because I think it would be good for me to take it up a notch and there are so many people at my church that have started running and are really looking good!

Anyways, it's good to be back and I hope to stay connected here.  Thanks for your support, friends!

Hi Ginny,

I have been mostly MIA for a while with family issues, but I'm working on getting back in the saddle. My daughter went to the gym with Ben this afternoon and apparently they both had a great workout. It's something that I'm going to try to start doing with them. While I do wear a pedometer often and try to get in my 10K steps a day, I really have neglected the exercise part of the equation and I really do think that it will go a long way towards ensuring a healthier me. I'm not sure that I'll ever be up to running, but I do like going on walks so maybe I'll try that.

Congratulations again on getting to and maintaining your goal.

Thanks, Barb.  I'm sorry you've had so many family issues but I'm glad you're still around.  I really feel that if I had a gym nearby and could be held accountable for that to someone I would do a lot better.  Several years ago (BS - before surgery, hehe) my aunt and I would travel 30 minutes one way to Curves 3 times a week.  I did it because I knew she was waiting for me and she counted on me to go with her.  So I never missed a day.  However, now the closest gym of any kind is about an hour away one way.  I know that's no excuse not to exercise - I do have a Wii, videos (millions! and some never opened!) and a very expensive treadmill.

I am in charge of our behavior program at my school and tomorrow we are going to a skating rink for our good behavior trip.  I'm debating over whether to skate or not.  Haven't in years and keep visualizing me being the tragedy of the day but since I do have more confidence now (and, let's face it, the kids have more fun when a teacher's acting crazy!) I'm really considering it!  That could be a jumpstart to my exercise regimen, huh?

I'll be thinking of you as you "restart".
