I need an Angel
I live in North Raleigh, but I am wiling to help any way I can. I had a RNY on 12/14/09 so I a little more than 3 months out. It has been a long three months but the good news is I feel better than ever now and I am down 79pounds.
I will be happy to answer any questions I can. Let me know what you need,

I'm in Mooresville and not quite 3 months (but close) with 72 lbs down. I'd be happy to talk and help out with any questions or just to commiserate LOL -- I had the The RNY at CMC Mercy and would do it again in a heartbeat. That said, it looks like i've got a lot more to lose than you do. Let me know what I can do to help !
I don't know of any informal support groups but you should check with your surgeon. I know my office has monthly meetings held at CMC that hsi patients are welcome to go to. You should have met with your nutritionist by now who will be able to give you specifics about your surgeons post op meal plan. I can tell you that I am not adhereing to their plan only because I found i'm not hungry and haven't been ready to move on to "real eating" as some folks have been. My doctor said it's fine, you do it in your own time, but i've read folks on here that are eating very early. (don't know how they do it, but then again that's probably why i've had some good weight loss).
One key item that someone told me before surgery is that it can be easier to "eat" when you've had something warm (boullion) before you try. I usually have about 4 oz of chicken boullion before I try to eat. then rest for a little while and have something.
Another thing the nutritionist told me after i was complaining about trying to eat tuna salad, is that it might not be "wet" enough. Right now my diet consists of soup and applesauce. Afternoon snack is cheese and breakfast and dinner are meds and protein shake.
gotta run - i've got a meeting shortly, but you'll be fine.. trust me.. for a while you will just be drinking your protein and wont even be hungry - so you've got plenty of time to figure out what works for you !
