Because I already had my surgery date, I knew Christmas 2002 would be my last in a plus-size body.
Coming up on my 7th POST-OP anniversary and I have NOT gained back any weight!
I am truly "at home" in a strong, healthy body after being a yo-yo dieter for most of my previous 50+ years prior to RNY in 2/03.

Thnk you Lauralyn for posting these pics... i think most of us are extremely paranoid about gaining the weight back... Those are always the horror stories you hear.
You've given us hope in the thought that we, too can keep it off long term. Thank you and happy new year!!!

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't meanthey're NOT out to get you!" was a saying we shared in the
late 60's when FBI agents would turn up with cameras at college peace rallies.
It's also true of chronic dieters!
Back in 2002, the Nat'l. Inst. Health published a major longitudinal study that said:
5 years out, 90% of dieters had gained back the weight they'd lost; but, only 10% of WLS patients had gained it back.
I am betting that 7 years later, with the number of surgical revisions of stretched-out RNY pouches being performed, that % is edging up to 35% AND GROWING!
That's why my coaching focuses on teaching people how to shutdown the self-sabotage machinery that is programmed to doom every effort to live the rest of their lives in a normal-sized, strong, healthy body!
