A couple of WOWs

No the scales haven't moved. But that's OK. I noticed my biggest WOW ever this week - my every waking thought doesn't seem to somehow revolve around food.

Think about that for a minute or two.

Before I ever thought about having surgery my life definetly revolved around food (massive quantities of it too!!) Then I had to do 6 months of supervised diet. Learned alot about nutrition and proper ways to eat. Still that caused me to really focus on food itself - not necessarily in a bad way. Then came surgery. Stage I (liquid), Stage II (mushy) and Stage III (semi-real). Going through the stages caused me to almost become obsessive over food. A big part of that was breaking the hold that food had over my life and grieving the loss of some foods.

The relationship with food has been changing over the past 2 years. Now it's like an old lover. It was good while it lasted but now it's gone. For me it's more like "What on earth was I thinking?!?!?"

And an Off Topic WOW (the best one yet too!!) Today makes a year that David and I have been together. I'm in awe of it. He brings out the very best in me. I'm happier than I think I've ever been in my entire life. The thought of starting over again with a 5 year old daughter and 10 year old son no longer scares the dickens out of me. They are incredible kids and I feel blessed to be a part of their lives. I've become good friends with David's ex-wife and that has actually been easy to do. I simply put the kids best interest first and foremost - it's made PTA meetings. birthday parties and the whole "blended family" thing much easier on everyone.  There aren't any wedding bells ringing but honestly - I'm fine with that too. I love my life just like it is - anything else is just GRAVY as my Daddy used to say.

Hope everyone is preparing for a glorious Holiday Season. There's lots to do. Relax and enjoy it!!!!

Iris, they are wonderful WOW's and I am right there with you on the first one.

I am so happy for you and David what you have together.  I know that you have been a blessing to him and his children.

I wish the  very best for you in 2010...................Carrie

iris, it's great to hear that things are going well for you.  I agree with your statements about  our relationship with food.  I like the new one much better than the old one which hopefully will help me keep the weight off and stay healthy.

Merry Christmas!

Thanks-You always put my thoughts into words. And,  you know, the "gravy" never did us any good, did it?
