Bojangles Ritual....

Every Sunday after Church many of us go to the nearby Bojangles for lunch. Instead of going our normal route my husband starts to go by our house. My daughter says Daddy I thought we were going to Bojanges. My husband says well I thought we would just eat something at home since Mommy can not eat. I spoke up..."Are you just going to put me in a box because I can not eat what you eat?" He said well I know you had a lot of school stuff to do, etc. I said I will be fine if you all want to go I will sip some water with lemon and socialize. I of course am on my optifast. I drank one between Sunday School and Church. I was fine. I handled Bojangles fine but everybody kept looking over at me like they felt sorry for me. I finally said you all shouldn't feel bad I feel better than I have in a long time. I can honestly understand now how people can fast and feel great. It is wonderful to be freed of the thoughts of food. I explained to all of them  how my body was being trained to eat differently and this pre-op diet was going to help me prepare fo the rest of my life. It is like getting a restart. I can remember going all day and not eating...I ruined my metabolizm. Then anything I did eat stuck to me. This is my second chance to heal my body in a new way. My Aunt said Danielle we all could stand to eat a little less. They are all tall and slim. They have no idea what it is like to be "THE ONE". Maybe this Christmas I won't be the one in the family picture that sticks out like a sore thumb.
Just thougt I would share my thoughts...

Congratulations.   I totaly understand.   If I had known that all the high protein shakes and drinks would help me lose weight without being hungery, I would have done it when I only had 25 pounds to lose, instead of waiting to be 200 pounds over my ideal weight.

I have a similer Bojangles ritual also, but it involves a biscuit, bo-rounds and sweet tea, 3 out of 5 days per week.

I had my official 'last' chicken biscuit combo Thursday, then, Friday, I enjoyed my last bacon and egg biscuit from the same store.

The next three day's, I'll be on a  liquid only pre op diet that will hopefully help during my Surgery on Thursday.

I'm from a bigger family, so we all stick out.  At the moment, I have an Aunt who had RNY last year, and looks Great.  A cousin in Durham Regional right this minute recoving from her RNY surgery on Friday, then I'm on the books for RNY at Chapel Hill, then another cousin is waiting approval.   In about two years, we will be pulling out the 'old' Christmas photos, and most likely crying....tears of joy.

Good by to the Old You, and nice to meet the New You.

I can totally relate to the last of things! I did that too! My husband and I were going to go out for dinner but we ended up staying home and he grilled a delicous steak for me for my last real dinner. I have been on optifast since wednesday...I have another week and 2days of this before I spread my wings and fly! Best of luck with your upcoming surgery. May the Lord heal you quickly. Best wishes to all of your family members as well for a successful journey. Danielle

Danielle,

In many ways you are ahead of the game, because you seem to have realized that you have already started your journey. You have realized that you don't have to wait until surgery to begin this incredible journey of a lifetime and that mindset is likely to help you through, not only the weightloss, but later in the all important maintenance phase!

Wishing you continued success!

BTW... KUDOS to your wonderful, thoughtful, supportive husband!!!

Thanks a bunch. I feel like I have to get my mind right so my body will follow. My husband is really great. Tonight....I wanted something besides Crystal light and protein shakes. He tried to find sugar free/popscicles for me. He couldn't find any at the grocery store so he came  home and made me some with crystal light. It was like a slushie. It was really good. I have found though that Crystal light seems to make me hungrier. It might all be in my head. 10 days and counting till there is no turning back...this butterfly is going to nibble through this cacoon and fly!
Thanks again,
Danielle
