Rashes... could be TMI

There are soooo many positive things about losing all of the excess weight and of course one of them is not having to deal with the rashes that occur with the skin folds associated with obesity... Well, until now. Now, I'm starting to experience rashes, but these are associated with the excess skin left over from my obesity. I doubt that insurance will ever cover me and I know how to treat it, don't we all. So, I don't know if I should just deal and handle it or if I should go see the Dr and get it documented. Even with documentation, I don't have the type of 'panus' that normally is required to obtain any insurance coverage to remove it. My rash is around the navel where the skin just folds over itself.

Soooo...What do you think? Just deal with it and self treat or call the Dr's office?

Barb-I have seen your tummy (you showed a few of us girls pre-op when we were asking) and I could only dream of having nice, elastic skin like yours. You have a beautiful shape.

Hi Deb,

You are sweet and while i wish I had a lovely flat tummy, I know that others have more skin than I do... I just wasn't sure which I should do because with things being as they are, there is no way that plastics are in my future unless they are covered by insurance... I know if they did anything it would just be a removal of the excess skin, not a TT. But, I'm not particularly hopeful about even the panni removal.

What have you got to loose......except excess skin.  I would see the Doc and document it.  Gravity does work......unfortunately.

Barb, I think you should at least have the rashes documented (take your own photos) and see your PCP.  You never know, your insurance may cover it if you ever decided to go that route.  If you don't have the documentation and photos, you don't have the PROOF that the insurance will probably want.

Barb, I would keep a record with the Dr. just in case you do decide to see a PS. But to me ... You look great.  I am stuck bwtween 168 and 176. Can not budge it down.  Sometimes I fee l like a failure. I really wanted to make it to 155. My body just does not cooperate. But do keep a record..if your ins,. does not cover it .....maybe one day you will get a new ins or it my change its policy.
