You are soooo sweet. I haven't been on the board much in the last couple of weeks, so I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you before ... What a nice way to meet you!

I noticed that you are in Cary. I'm in Raleigh and have a meetup group for WLS patients. We get together at Perkins Restaurant off Capital and 440 on the 3rd Sat of each month. We also do other activities. You can find out more about it at http://wls.meetup.com/101

I hope to actually meet you soon. Nice to virtually meet you in the meantime.

Well, thank you for that kind invitation!  It's nice to virtually meet you as well, and I look forward to an in-person hello at an upcoming Meetup gathering.

Barb, I found both the hardcover book as well as the workbook on Amazon for great prices. The workbook was @$10 and the hardcover was @$14. I may order them both next week on payday. :)

By the way.... Happy Early Birthday!

Thanks Holley!

I'm delighted to hear that you found them. I'm going to see if I can find the hardcover tomorrow.

I'm really pleased with the workbook. I think it's going to be some thing to do, and do again and again and again ...

Thanks again for the birthday wishes!

My pre-op psychologist, Nona Patterson from Charlotte STRONGLY recommended this book to all of her bariatric patients, for exactly that reason of learning to think/live like a thin person. I have read most of it and done several of the exercises.  I think this would be one to pull out periodically in different stages of this journey.

Hi Elizabeth -

I agree with you. I've read most of it and started doing the exercises. As you say, I think that this is something that will get used over and over again to help me develop and re-inforce the habits that will be the basis of long-term success.

Warmest congratulations on your own successes.

Hello to my beautiful, marvelous, insightful friend! Congrats a little early on the 5oth birthday! Hope for 50 more years of excellent health to you! It's so interesting that you and I seem to reach the same "phases" during this journey. I am within 10 lbs of my initial WLS goal, but for almost 3 months I have struggled with " Do I REALLY need or want to lose this last 10 lbs????" Most of this is driven by my sense of improved health, being much more energtic and being very happy in my size 10 clothes. I, too have the loose skin issues...... I saw my plastic surgeon, Dr Mark Morgan, here in Wilmington last week and have decided to proceed with my abdominalplasty on 2/28/08. He feels I will lose several lbs with removing the excess skin and some fat and he feels now is a good time to proceed. He would not consider the surgery if I had a desire to lose another 20lbs. I was considering waiting until the summer months ( late June for the tummy tuck), but knowing how much I enjoy the beach and fishing, a 6week recovery time is much easier now. I will look for both this book and work book. Most days I think I do an ok job of "thinking thin"- frequently weigh my choices and consequences, yet there are times I slip into old habits- particularly emotional eating- so this book sounds very worth reading. Thanks for posting. Love ya and Happy Birthday! Sheila

I am a work in progress and I am committed to progress with the work ahead of me.....
