OK... don't get me wrong.. I LOVE my RNY... I'm a little PISSED at it right now though... it's been 4 months and a week why aren't I losing weight anymore? I mean I can eat maybe 2 little drumetts now.. other than that, everything is still the same as far as food goes... I know 63 is a good number and all.. but man.. I know we shouldn't compare ourselves BUT MAN!!! I see people that have had the surgery after me and have lost more than me already Some were bigger than me and some weren't.... Water I know is a issue for me.. I can drink maybe 60 ounces a day now and that's all I drink.. Besides my protein shakes when I have one, which may be every 2 or 3 days.. and when I do.. I get at least 80 grams of protein when I do.. I triple up on my scoop..  What is it and why oh why have I stopped really losing? I have such a long way to go.. I know I have to work at it.. and I AM....exercising and watching what I'm eating.. No junk food, No sweets... what gives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long have you stopped losing for? Its *normal* to hit stalls and plateaus along the way. The only time to really start worrying is when you dont lose pounds OR inches for FOUR weeks or longer - then its time to call the surgeon/NUT to have them take a look at your nutrition. Have you checked your inches? Many times when the scale stops the tape measure will move - I know personally I lose pounds, the scale stops, then I lose the inches. You said you know water is an issue - so instead of worrying about the scale focus on the water. As for the protein shakes - you said you triple up the scoop - you should be keeping your shakes at a max of around 30g at a time - your body can only absorb so much protein at a time... while there is so set answer as to how much its best to spread the protein out so you are maximizing how much your body is really getting - if you are consuming too much protein your body will store it just like it would anything else you are consuming too much of so make sure you are following the guidelines given to you :-)  As for people losing more - depending on how much was bypassed, start weight and goal weight we will all have different numbers. I had a proximal procedure and we tend to lose slower than those who had distal procedures. I had 'only' 100lbs to lose and it took me 1.5 years to reach that - I saw *many* people zip to goal in 6 months who also had 100lbs to lose but they also had much more bypassed then I did. Thats exactly why we shouldnt compare... there are too many factors that go into the weight loss to truly know whats 'normal' and what isnt.  Just be patient and the scale will move again. Work on improving anything you know you need to! I know its hard because we all want to see that scale moving but what you are experiencing is normal! Just like you need to rest, sometimes our bodies need to rest as well.  Keep us posted!

Hey girl, you had surgery two days after me and you have lost two more pounds then me LOL I think that 62-64 lbs is really great!!!! look at how much weigh that is! Try to look at the inches instead of that blasted scale.. I have the same thoughts you do but just try to relax and look long term, my weight loss has slowed down a bit and Im considered a lightweight since I *only* had 100 lbs to lose.. YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I think you are doing great!  It is hard not to compare ourselves, but please try and look at what you have achieved.  There are 64 pounds of you gone forever!   I am with Jenn on this one.  Focus on getting in your water if you struggle with that.  I struggle too!  We all have out little RNY struggles and we just have to overcome.    Keep your chin up T and don't get down.  You have traveled so far on this path already and your road to goal is much shorter than it was before you started.   Plateaus are normal.  I just fought one off.  I thought I was going to DIE before I lost another pound.  Just be patient!!

What are you doing in terms of e.x.e.r.c.i.s.e.??? You gotta be moving that body and exerting it.  It's yet one more TOOL in our box, along with the surgery, but a most important one... I've had multiple stalls in my 3 months... but inches are going.  And I'm SURE that if I were not committed to and doing exercise every day my loss at this point wouldn't be nearly where it is.

Hi Taryn,      63 is a fabulous number but I can understand your frustration. I know I'll be going throught he same thing when I hit those slow spots too. You'll be fine and that scale will start moving again soon.  xoxo Mare

Hi Taryn! So nice to see you posting again! One of the things I associated with my stall when I had it back in October, was a change in routine.  I went back to work and that just seemed to slow me down in the weight loss department as though my body was reacting in panic to having a new sleep schedule and a more rigid eating schedule and I had a month when I only lost 3 pounds and I was SO discouraged!  It will pick up again.  Just keep doing the right things and the right things will happen! Give your little girl a hug for me, please!
