Esspecially Ms. Barb and Ms. Annie!! Without going into every sorted detail of my hectic day.. let me just give ya'll the highlights of why I never showed up!! I get in the car around 8:45am to come and find Perkins (I know nothing about Raleigh and get lost in those "city type places" lol)  I'm about half way there and my cell phone rings.  It's my mom.  She Never calls me this early unless she needs something or something is wrong. Long story short, she tells me my sister in law, my 3 year old neice and my barely 1 year old nephew had just been in a car accident.  There was a DRUNK DRIVING big rig driver that ran over the hood of their car with the entire back 4 tires of his rig!!  Another foot at just the right angle and my sister in law may not have made it out ok.  Another couple of feet and he could have gone over the roof of the car and they all may not have made it!  By the grace of God they all ARE ALRIGHT. To make everything even better, come to find out this IS NOT the man's first offense and he's still driving for a trucking company??   OMG this stuff makes me so mad I could just spit!!  It's HORRIBLE when it's someone else's family, but this was ours!  Ya'll know? Anyway, I'm sorry to come and lay this all on ya'll.. I just wanted everyone to know I'm sorry I never showed!! But it was for a "good" reason. Hope everyone had a GREAT time and hope to see everyone next month!! Connie

Connie, Sorry we didn't get to see you, but thank God your sister-in-law, niece and nephew are going to be OK!  We all know drunk driving is a huge problem, but you don't really realize how serious it is until it happens to your family.  My mom was killed by a drunk driver 2 years ago.  It wasn't his first offense either.  :(   I'm so glad that this potential tragedy was averted for your family, and will pray that the truck driver finally gets the punishment he deserves.

Connie, I think we'll let you slide on this "excuse" and no apology needed.  My goodness, I'm SO glad everyone is OK.  I'll say a prayer for speedy recoveries all around.  And that the drunk driver sees JUSTICE too!  Don't get me started on that subject...

Oh my goodness!!! I'm so sorry to hear that your Sister-in-law, niece and nephew were subjected to such a scary event, but I'm so glad that they all made it through okay. I'm with you re: DUI, people that do that are soooo selfish and self-absorbed. I hope that they throw the book at him.

We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event ... and please do not feel that you have to apologize; I'm just glad you and your family are okay.

Connie: I am glad that everything turned out OK for your family. Luckily things weren't worse.  Thankfully, things are somewhat better with our justice system than years ago, but still not where they should be. I, like Deb, lost my mother to a drunk driver (back in 1984) and he got six months. I don't even think he served that time. I have always thought he got a really light sentence. Anyhow, nothing can ever make up for what he took from us.  I hope we will get to meet at the next get-together. I was going to drive in from Fayetteville but didn't want to take a chance in the weather.  Take care and so glad there were some angels watching over your family! Lisa

They are so blessed that nothing happened to them.  Why do people insist on drinking and driving?  It's beyond me.  I know it was nervewrecking for you and your mom and sister and others.  I'm just very glad that all is well.
