dictation period?

I past my first visit with colors. I have no other test to be done. The office at Duke Wls center said that i'm in dictation and after that everything is down hill. I have BCBSNC and already pre approved. How long does this take? Thanks, Ken

I'm sorry Ken, I don't know the answer to your question.  I just wanted to say Congratulations on making it to this point.  You will be a loser before long I'm sure.   This is the beginning of your new journey.  woo hoo!! 

Ken, Congratulations. I think I saw you at Duke Monday. I was the one with glasses in the long blue denim skirt. I was afraid to speak to you because I had not seen your photos online and was not sure if it was you. Once I saw the photos you have posted, I was pretty sure it was. I can't really answer your question bec. it has been four years since I went through the program and alot of things have changed there. But I am sure when the time is right (and the moon aligns with Mars . . .etc) you will hear.  Starfish

Hi Ken -

While it may have changed some since I had mine done, it took about 2 weeks for it get through "dictation" ... Once that was done, Beth submitted it to insurance for review and approval. I had UnitedHealthcare Secure Horizons. Contractually, that group had 16 business days to review and provide a determination. They had my "determination" in 11 business days.

I hope that this helps. I know it seems like things are draging, but honestly, it will go through faster than you might think.

Depending on how much back log they have from the holidays--Dictation can take 1-5 days.  Once they fax the report to the insurance company 5-7 days before it is reviewed and responded to.   Somewhere in between the doctor has to review it and sign off.   Call your insurance provider after one week and see if they have received anything and every 3-4 days after that.  If you are polite they don't mind answering your questions.  The wait is hard--we have all been there.   BCBS NC is usually very quick.  They were my provider and I got an approval in 5 days after they received my letter from the doctor. 

I cant answer for Duke... but when I worked at a Drs office our dictation took about 1-2 weeks.

Hi There....I had my surgery with the Duke Weight Loss Clinic as well....I was in dictation for about 2 weeks...once you come out of dication things really start moving for you.
