One of my nieghbors just came by and gave us a mini loaf of pumkin bread. I was polite and took it thanking her and her hubby. So there sits the pumkin bread on the counter. At first I thought maybe Lee will eat it and then I thought I will take it to my mom. Then I thought well a small piece will be ok but my make sense side said NO SMALL PIECE I am going to take it to my mom I cant have this around me.                                                              Annie

Great job Annie, like the old saying, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels", and it probably applied to that pumpkin bread.....I love hearing of your daily thoughts, you're such a positive inspiration.  I got a box of chocolate covered cheeries from a student and I know his mother semi-well........is it not obvious to her I've lost weight and that wasn't a good gift choice?  Oh well, it's the choice that counts.....and the men at work love it, lol.  Have a Great Christmas! nancy

Annie -

SInce that stuff usually clocks in around 350-500 cals a slice, I'd either give it away or tra**** quick!

I'm soooo proud of you!

This is my first Christmas postop .. and although I'm very disciplined, I have to admit that it is really tough!  But I have made it through a week of lots of goodies being brought to work and into my own house that are soooooooo not WLS friendly!  Thanksgiving was not this way, oddly enough.  It was actually pretty easy to eat well Thanksgiving.  But more chocolate has found its way around me (not INTO me) for the Christmas holiday.   Thank goodness there are a lot of great sugar-free varieties available.  My husband made cookies with Splenda, too, instead of sugar.  I found sugar-free vanilla wafers, so the banana pudding will be edible for me!  And dinner today is going to have a lot of good protein available. It would be so easy to throw caution to the wind and eat what everyone else is having, but I have to remember what brought me to the point in my life that I needed WLS, how hard I worked to get approved for it, and how hard I've worked at being successful with it.  Nothing, not even chocolate, is worth undoing all of that hard work.

Hi Dena, I totally agree with your statement about why throw caution to the wind. My goodness look what we had to do to just have wls. Me for one will never forget the waiting and hoping for the phone to ring and the depression I went through during the waiting time. I know in my heart and soul I made the right choice for me to have wls. So as far as the pumkin bread goes I have already sent it down to my nieghbors who is having a huge Christmas dinner for friends and family tonight. BTW Dena you look fantastic.                                                      Annie

Aww, shux ... thanks!  Yeah, passing it on to the neighbors is so much easier and think of how great you feel knowing that you allowed yourself to do that!   I do remember those days, weeks, and months waiting on approval  ... it was HORRIBLE.  I vowed not to mess this up on purpose, and I'm gonna stick to it.
