I am having a BIG oyster craving, which is a good craving and full of protein, so I'm meeting a couple of gals pals at a local oyster bar this evening... I called yesterday to see what days they're having specials in the Oyster Bar and the lady says they have .40/each oysters and big yummy shrimp at same price too, every day this month, so I'll be full on less than $5!  LOL  That's a cheap eat I might have to indulge in more frequently during oyster season. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Pacifica and Virginia Oysters Health Benefits Of Oysters

Oysters are not only delicious, but they’re also one of the most nutritionally well-balanced foods. They’re high in protein, low in fat and loaded with essential minerals.

  • Ounce for ounce, oysters have fewer calories and about the same level of cholesterol as white-fleshed fish; and are much lower in fat, cholesterol and calories when compared to poultry.
  • The National Heart and Lung Institute suggests oysters as an ideal food for inclusion in low-cholesterol diets.
  • Oysters are an excellent source of vitamins A, B1 (thiamin) B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), C (ascorbic acid) and D (calciferol). Four or five medium-size oysters supply the recommended daily allowance of calcium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and zinc.
  • One entire cup of oyster meat is just 160 calories. Figure 10 calories per medium oyster, or 20 calories per ounce of oyster meat.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE OYSTERS! Anyway I can get 'em!  Raw espcially! But I'm always so afraid to buy the ones at the store!!! Most places around Raleigh that I have found are either always fried, or super expensive

YUM YUM YUM I have a FULL TUM! Man were those oysters good.  But I ate a little more than I thought. I got 12 steamed shrimp and 12 raw on the half shell... I ate the 12 shrimp and 9 of the oysters.  Ended up that the gals couldn't go so I went with BIL and Wyatt while sis was out with some of her gal pals. That was Wyatt's first time seeing raw oysters so he kept saying "Ewwww, that's Yukky Dee Dee!"  Matt ate the 3 I couldn't eat.  A gal near us a the bar had a nice looking bowl of steamed mussels in some sort of broth she said was "GREAT" so I now know where I'll be going more often. We eat there frequently anyway, but I'll be hitting that bar more often now.

For those of you in Raleigh, hop onto the new 540 and zip into Knightdale to Knightdale Barbecue & Seafood (and Oyster Bar).  They have great food... about anything anybody wants, great grilled steaks, chicken, seafood... all sorts of veggies and the new Oyster Bar they opened last year.  I'll meet you there!

It's not in Zebulon Jennifer... it's Knightdale Barbecue and Seafood (w/Oyster Bar) in Knightdale.  It's probably about 2 miles off 540 on the Knightdale exit. Take Business 64/264 off 540 EAST. The restaurant is on the other end of all the chaos of the shopping centers in Knightdale, but worth the drive.  If you decide to go and want more specific directions, just let me know.  But if you do the above and just drive, you'll see it on your right as you're leaving Knightdale. They'll probably continue the special.  It was only .25/each the month before I had surgery, but like everything else, it's gone up.  They always keep something like this going on in the OB, usuallly during the earlier hours to bring in more bizz. They also used to have 1/2 price crab legs on Sundays, but they're not doing that right now.  I hope that comes back in Jan.  They have always had some of the BEST crab legs I've ever had.  To get this price, you have to go between 4-7PM. A few reviews on Citysearch: Oyster Bar is Wonderful - Wait Staff and Bar staff Great! 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I recently tried the Oyster Bar at Knightdale Seafood and WOW - this is good stuff. The oysters were delicious and the steamed shrimp beyond words. Not to mention the great staff that shucked our oysters and provided us with excellent service! It was also the first time that I have had a mixed drink there and it to was very good. I would give them a 9.9 out of 10. I would definitely recommend it for those that love steamed oysters and shrimp. Prices were very reasonable too.

Pros: Great people working the oyster bar - friendly and courteous, Lots of parking

Cons: Can't think of one! Great Southern Cooking

The best home coooking in the area. The dishes are all made to order. The vegetables are fresh and cooked the way they should be. I have not tried one thing that I did not enjoy at this restaurant. Try family-sized meals as well. Beats Bojangles and/or Hardees. “great deal good food”

bluecash zebulon,, NC 5 of 5 stars great fresh seafood, flounder, shrimp and scallops, can have them broiled to order not just fried. Great Oyster bar, also steak, rabbit, alligator, Check the daily specials Great Food, Great Family Eatery!! 5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

having just moved to the raleigh/knightdale area, my family & i are...of course, trying out all sorts of restaurants that are new to us. on a recommendation from a neighbor we tried out the knightdale seafood & bbq. one word: WOW! having grown up in the south, i know southern cooking. this is some of the best i've ever had (aside from my grandma's, of course...). the catfish was perfectly fried, pulled pork was tangy & not too spicy, the hushpuppies were EXCELLENT! sweet tea (i'm a tea snob...lol!) was perfect (and left on the table in a lrge pitcher for us to serve ourselves....NICE TOUCH!!) we had the family meal that night & were THOROUGHLY impressed with all the dishes & the service. i also love the whole atmosphere in there. and the whole meal didn't break our bank (with 4 kids...that's easy to do!) we will be making a return trip to Knightdale Seafood & BBQ! :) hope to see some of you there! :) Worth the drive!!!!!!

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

My husband and I drive from Greenville, N.C. several times a month to eat here. The food is excellent; the menu literally has something for everyone. We were quite impressed with the promptness with which we were seated (even when it was quite busy). We wish they would open one closer to Greenville; however, it is totally worth the drive!
