I have also read in many places that only about 5% of folks keep the weight off after losing with WLS... posts in the main forum here and on several medical sights. But I intend on being in that 5% because SOMEbody has to make up that number, so it may as well be ME!

I think I would be most interested in clarification of what that 5% means... more of a breakdown I guess - are they including or excluding the people who experience the 10% bouceback/regain. Do they consider gaining over that 10% as not keeping your weight off? Or is it if you go back to an overweight BMI (if you got to normal) or if you are considered obese again? I guess I just feel thats a hard fact to throw out, it basically says only 5% of people stay successful... to me there are many definitions of success. I think its 'normal' for many to experience some sort of weight gain over time as the body adjusts but of course there is too much gain!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)
