Thanks, Barb.  We do have an employee assistance program at work who can refer me to an atty and I think get me a free consult.  I will look into that on Monday (along with the long list of other things I need to do!  LOL)

Oh my goodness Suzanne, yes, thank goodness you are ok!!

I'm so sorry they are putting you through all of this.  You should definitely contact an attorney.  They know how to handle these insurance companies.

And the driver who got into another accident right after yours needs to have that vehicle taken away from him!  What the heck!??  He's a danger on the road!

(((hugs))) to you.

I am so glad Suzanne that you are ok.  Boy that had to have been a scary experience.  God was in your corner no doubt.   As everyone has said...  yes, do contact a lawyer.  Or at least "let them believe that you have contacted one".   I know it is such a hassle.  I'm so sorry!!  But I'm glad you were able to get some rest this weekend with that Whiplash.  That stuff is nothing at all to mess with.   Take it easy girl! First of all I am SOOO glad you are not seriously injured!! second of all tell that insurance company to stick it up their A**!! DO NOT let them bully you!!! they are trained to bully people into accepting low payments/settlements and I would tell them you wont be talking to them without an attorney! I had a half a cup of hot coffee dumped on my foot by a flight attendant one time and you know what the dumbass said to me? *Opps Im sorry when I saw your white socks I just knew I was going to have a accident because I always spill coffee on mine when Im wearing white* WTF?? she offered no ice packs no nothing to stop the burn. I took photos and documented everything. Of course United airlines tried to brush me off till I got my attorney involved and they came back with a nice little settlement. It was not much but it was better then what they wanted to do the first time... send me a *we are sorry for your inconvenience* form letter. Soo Suz tell them NO WAY and take action against these people!!

Love ya

Thank you, Darcie, I am at least going to consult with an attorney/  Did your atty take the case on contingency? In yesterday's mail, I got a letter they want me to sign and return giving them power of attorney over my car.  I can assure you I am not signing anything or depositing any checks until I at least speak with an attorney.  I am sitting here all full of aches and pains, taking medication to help with that, now have no car, and they can't even offer me enough money to replace the car?  The more I sit with it, the more angry I become. Thanks for the pep talk!

Suz
United airlines sent one of there *insurance* adjusters down to take photos of my foot.. 2 weeks after the incident and of course my foot was all healed up so they got normal skin photos. They tried to get me to take a full refund on my ticket as a settlement LOL nope! I told them to call my attorney and they met up and settled on a deal for me. Like I said it was nothing huge but it was better then the crap they tried to pass off with the form letter.. good luck!!

Let me guess, your dealing with Allstate.  I had been hit by a driver that had their insurance and it wound up turning into 1 year to settle the case.  The didn't want me to have a rental car then tried to yank it from underme over July 4th weekend.  I sought the assistance of a lawyer because allstate was bullying me.  The lawyer didn't really do anything special, however, they will get that pressure cooker off you.  Tell them No you are not returning the car, point blank, let them pay for storage bcause most insurances do cover that after an accident.  Get yoru police report and go see a lawyer.  Yoru not being unreasonable.  If you don't take care of you, no one will. You have enough going on.  Do you have GAP insurance which covers the difference between what you owe and what hte car is worth?  It really helps if something like this happens.  Good LUck and please keep us up to date on what's going on.  Also, you will feel victimized over and over wtih teh State/legal system so with out a lawyer, your not going to get anywhere.  Get the best personal injury lawyer in your area, because I didn't and only got the basic payout.  Also, there is somethign called MedPay through insurance where they will reimburse for medicine, dr's visits etc.  It helps.  You are the victim and do not let them assult you any more.  Get those aches and pains fixed too.  I hurt for MONTHS from my whiplash - I wound up getting injections in my neck for the pain.

Thank you for all of your advice. How do I know I got the best personal injury lawyer in my area?  Is that the one with the biggest ad in the yellow pages? It is such a pain... I am not looking to hurt anyone in any way, but here I am having to defend myself from these piranhas when I am the victim!  It's a double whammy!  I feel as though I am being forced to get an attorney just to keep my head above water! Fortunately I don't have any payments on my car and own it outright.  But of course I will have to take out a loan to replace it.  This is SO stressful!
