WLS and tattoos

Ok, so last night I was thinking about what things will be like after I have my WLS and I looked at my tattoos and had to wonder... After all the weight loss will my tattoos get saggy as well? I have one on the inside of my left ankle, one wrapped around my right ankle and one across in the middle of my back between my shoulders. What's funny is when I got these tattoos I put them in places that I thought wouldn't be affected by weight gain. I had never considered what might happen in the case of weight loss mainly because I thought I'd never lose it. Do any of you have experience with this? How have your tattoos held up to the weight loss? Thanks in advance!

Becky -

That's a good question. I'm not sure what will happen. I guess it might be dependent on how much weight you carry in those areas. Try cross posting this question to the main board. I'll bet there is a large enough pool of people there to find several others that have experienced weight loss with tatoos.

I'd be interested in the answer.

LOL Good question. Now I'm wonderin' too. But what I wonder is this... Since I got my tattoo on my shoulder when I was still 18yo and very thin, and gaining soooo much weight it sorta faded away, will it shrink and have all the definition again it had back then?  Tattoo Artist

Great idea to post it on the main board. I just did that and I'll try to post some of the responses I get here. :)

I have one between my shoulders and one on the inside of my left ankle and they look exactly the same... I guess it would really depend on how you carry your weight. I also chose less fatty areas of the body so weight loss/gain really wouldnt effect them.

HAHAHAA  this is funny because I have tatts and only one has "really" been affected.  The one on my boob!  It is a sun and now it looks like th sun is setting.. HAHAHAAA  If I get the boob lift thing that tattoo will be under my boob!!  my others are okay...  The one on my right ankle has actually "shrunk" up nicely and it shifted a little more to the front, not noticable to anyone but me so it's not crazy.  The one on my left ankle has shrunk a little but it is fine, hasn't moved, and the one on the back of my neck looks the same.  I have lost almost 100 pounds, so hopefully the shifting has come to a head.    ~misslaurap

I haven't noticed any sagging skin in my ankles or back since the weight loss it's all in the tummy. I wanted to get a tattoo to celebrate my weight loss but i'm scared of catching something or getting an infection.  I'm not a huge risk taker.  I might just pierece my cartlidge or something.
