WLS DENIED!!!!!

JUST A QUICK POST.  I HAVE BCBS NC, BMI 42, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, AND CAN YOU BELIEVED THAT I AM DENIED.  I HAVE BEEN OVERWEIGHT MY ENTIRE LIFE, AND ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO I TOOK DIET PILLS AND I LOST A WHOOPING 25 POUNDS.  THEREFORE, I CAN STAY A MY WEIGHT NOW   (5"2-238POUNDS) OR OF COUSE GET BIGGER, STAY ON BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS AND I THEN CAN GET WLS SURGERY.  GO FIGURE!!!!!!!!!  I HAVE COME TO BELIEVE THAT EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON, AND GOD HAS EVERYTHING IN HIS CONTROL.  THIS IS NOT THE END TO MY JOURNEY FOR WEIGHT LOSS, I NOW KNOW THAT I HAVE TO TAKE MY LIFE INTO MY OWN HANDS. Usally when you are denied there is a reason why and it should be on the letter of denial as to why. I was denied twice and resolved the reasons why and also wrote an appeal letter nd got approved two weeks later. I refused to give up. I thank God I stuck with it. I know in my heart and soul I have done the right thing.                                            Annie

I wouldn't give up that easy.  I would inquire why I was denied and then appeal it.  Perhaps it is as simple as a missing form.  Check into it.......you never know! Nancy

I would DEFINITELY appeal!  Good luck and don't give up!

Don’t give up I was denied the first time by my insurance co.BCBS-MS and the nurse at Dr Moran office resubmit more information and I got approve the twice time. I know it heart breaking but keep trying.

BCBS has Centers of Excellance that they seem to approve with pretty quickly.  Check that out too.  And like everyone said, don't give up.. 

I'd definitely appeal!!! BCBS of NC seems to be one of the easier ones to get approved. It could be as simple as the nurse didn't send in all the necessary information!!!   Good luck and don't give up!

I was denied by BCBS of NC 3 times before I got approval.

There is an appeals process... just start going thru it. I also had lost weight due to diet pills which is why I had to prove to them why I needed surgery... my 5 year weight history showed me dropping from 288lbs to 194lbs. Its not the end... just keep fighting.

HI I also have BCBS- but I have the plan BlueCare,, I would see why they denied me as well. Start appealing and take it from there. I had my surgery and never got an approval letter.. I was told by my doctor that they would approve it and they did...So please don't give up..and look at their website to see if you met all the requirements.. I was 5'3 and weighed 307. No health issues but I was heading into Type 2 Diabetes.. FIGHT  FIGHT FIGHT and Good luck
