Poor Taryn!  This won't last forever, although I thought it would too! Have you tried blended or pureed soups?  How about tiny bites of soft fish?  NOT tuna, it's too tough.  What about crabmeat?  You didn't mention eggs.  THey went down ok for me, in tiny bites. Try blending together some lean ground beef and veggies and gravy.  Although the first 2 weeks I could not have tolerated them.  The smell of most food made me nauseous! How about oatmeal?  Cream of wheat?  Tapioca pudding?  Hope this helps!

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Its normal early out to be frustrated... you are dealing with a lot at once but it will get better... trust me.

What is your post-op diet? I see you are over 2 weeks out... are you still on liquids? Or you on soft foods?

You say you are dumping off water... dumping is caused by sugar and fat - typical dumping is nausea, sweating, heart racing, cramping, diarreah etc. If you are drinking water and it hurts you need to call your surgeon ASAP... as a suggestion try different temperatures of water... could be you need to do room temp or warm liquids. Did you truely dump off the shrimp? Or did you just have a hard time eating it... there is a difference :-) could be your healing pouch wasnt ready for shrimp yet. As for being hungry - is your body hungry or your head? Most people early out are suffering from head hunger... not physical hunger... its something that should improve when you are eating more normal but it is something we all have to work on. If you are having huge headaches it could be from dehydration... its VERY important to be getting your fluids in. Make sure you are sip sip sipping ALL day long and that should help.

HI Jennifer, I guess I'm not dumping then... It feels like something is getting stuck in my chest.. and then my chest tightens.. If that makes sense.. So dumping isn't the right word to say... And the same thing goes for the water.. I sip.. But it seems to get stuck like it doesn't want to go down.. My doctor's assistant told me at  my appointment that I could move to soft foods.. I'm a little bit scared I must admit from trying anything.. I tried some eggs yesterday.. i did ok.. I had half a scrambled egg. I just don't want to mess up. I will be trying some smoothies as suggested by someone else.. And I do ok on chicken noodle soup as well.. Along with 2 protein shakes a day.. And I believe I'm hungry not head hunger because I can drink and drink and drink and then in about 2 hours I feel like I really need to eat because my stomach is empty and growling sorta... so I guess that means I'm hungry. I'm making an appointment this week to meet with the nutristionst to go over what I should and shouldn't be eating..  Thank you again Jennifer
