Pre-Op Visit Today

I went in to see Dr. K and crew for my pre-op visit today.  It was sobering to hear him say "I will see on first thing on the 16th".. I am the first surgery of the day.  WOW.   One more thing that shocked me was that the nutritionist said I did not eat (or in this case drink) enough calories yesterday.  SHOCKER..  because I did not think it was possible for me to eat too few calories.  LOL

I am also having a hard time with a dull headache today on the liquid diet.  My guess is caffiene and sugar withdrawal.  Bleh.    In spite of a couple of bouts of hunger and the headache, I have not cheated on the liquid diet.  I am proud.

Jennifer, Boy those final pre-op appointments really make this real, don't they??!!!  You are doing a great job with the liquid diet -- keep up the good work because it will all be so worth it!!! I had my final nutrition class today and it really calmed a lot of my fears.  I wasn't so afraid of the surgery itself, but I was freaking out a little bit with thoughts of "what if I can't eat the way I'm supposed to after surgery".  Thankfully, my nutritionist gave us lots of wonderful ideas on what to eat to get in our daily protein requirements and she included some sample diet plans and recipes for protein shakes and stuff like that.  She even had a "goodie bag" for each of us with samples of protein powders, vitamins, crystal light, and even a baby spoon to get us started!!!  So I feel a LOT better about everything now.

This time next week, surgery will be over for me.  I can't hardly believe it!!!  I am soooo ready to get started on this journey to a better me!   Good luck to you -- we will both be losers in no time!!! Hugs, Donna

Yes.. it really is sobering that last visit.  It has been a quick journey for me.  I had my first ever visit on April 24th.  It only took a little over 3 months to get this done.   I have great nutritionists too.  I was so happy when she told me today that I can acutally have a green salad with FF dressing for supper.  I almost hugged her!   I am ready to get on that looser's bench.  Save room for me!

Congratulations on doing so well on your liquid diet.  Those can be very tough at times, it sounds like you are doing great!  There are all kinds of emotions that will run through your mind in the time between now and your surgery date.  It's normal to feel them, and by doing the liquid diet, you will likely have some "head hunger" issues out in the open before surgery.  I think that is a great thing.  Use this time to prepare your mind and body for surgery and concentrate on what you can do to be healthy in both arenas.  We'll be here cheering you on. Take care.  Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

You know what is funny.. I totally expected to be an emotional wreck during this liquid diet.  But thanks to the Good Lord I have handled the past three days much better than I expected.  Everytime I have a lapse in judgement or impending breakdown I just pray.  :D  It has certainly worked for me!  God is good!
