Does anyone know of a good PCP in Wilmington, that supports WLS?
Hey Everyone! I haven't even tried to get insurance approval yet b/c I don't have the 6 month medically supervised diet. I want to go ahead and have that under my belt prior to pursuing approval. I just moved to Wilmington 2 months ago and I don't have a PCP here. Actually, I don't have a PCP at all, I've always just used my obgyn for everything. Does anyone know of a good PCP in this area who may have experience with WLS and one who is not totally against it? Any help would be grealty appreciated!!! Congrats to all of you that have been approved, you deserve it!!!!!
Thanks,
Laurie
Hi Laurie - I live in Hampstead. I have Dr. Dan Chaksupa as a PCP. He supported my choice for WLS. It is different with everyone though. I have several comorbidites such as arthritis in hip and ankle, sleep apnea, and most recently put on medication for high blood pressure. Also, when I started this whole process I had a BMI of 66. (Currently BMI of 61 )Dr. Chaksupa supported my choice due to those factors. I am currently waiting for my psych evaluation (one of the requirements for WLS) to be sent to my surgeon in Wilmington, then all my stuff will be sent to insurance company for approval. I am getting anxious to hear from doctor with "THE NEWS!"
Good luck with your journey. Keep us posted.

Hi Laurie,
I'm Sheila from Wilmington and I am 4 months post op. I don't know where you live- but if's South of Monkey Junction or down towards the beaches- I use Masonboro Family Practice. They have 2 EXCELLENT PA's- I see Kim Martin and she is very supportive of WLS and willing to do the pre-op work up. Their number is 790-3660.
If you ever want to meet- drop me a line and mayber me, you and Denise ( from above post) can get together.Good luck,
Sheila
