If I try to eat (which is not really alot) then I am not thirsty..What to doooo....I am suppose to go back to work this week, what am I gonna dooooo.. I need someone to talk tooo. Me and my husband have not talked in 3 days(yes we live in the same house) over something stupid... he said he was gonna support me but he is NOT......All I have had today so far is around 20 oz of water and I tried chicken for the first time maybe 3 or 4 small bites and 6 pieces of macaroni, I dont feel hungry but I am wondering if I ate enough my tumy is making all kinds of wierd noises and rumbling all around LOL. The foods I have been able to eat so far are not really good ones so I am not getting protein I need. Gheesh I feel like Imma cry........I am just so worried....never thought Id worry about not eating or drinking enough. Carol -

Are you tracking your measurements? A number of people say that sometimes when the scale won't move, watch the tape measure. Keep working on it.

Feel free to call me ... just send me an email and I'll send you my phone number.

All the best,

Barb

Carol, You are so early in your "new life", have every confidence that it will work! I'm having the band so I don't know a lot about your eating requirements. But, it doesn't sound like you are getting enough protein in. All you can do is work on it, it's still pretty new and your body's adjusting. Sorry to hear about the hubby problems. If he told you that he would support you and he isn't - I would  REMIND him of his pledge!

You have much support here! Lean on us, we're here for you! Contact me if you want to talk privately.

I stalled about a month out, and it lasted for nearly a month.  I didn't lose much if anything during that time.  I think my scale is posessed, so I'm not entirely sure, but it wasn't much.  Anyway, it's normal for you body to stall around a month, not everyone does it, but a lot do.  Your body is realizing that there's a lot less food coming in and it's trying to protect itself from a perceived famine.  It'll realize that it'll live, then the weight loss will start again.  Be patient, it might be a week or two, might be longer, but this surgery does work.  When the weight loss started back for me, I lost 8 pounds in 4 or 5 days.  What you can do is try to increase your protein, water, and exercise.  Try to eat mostly protein for now.  Follow a schedule instead of waiting to feel hungry.  I found that helped because you don't stop drinking water if you're not following a schedule and therefore the water keeps you feeling full.  Exercising is hard right now, but it will help break the stall.  Don't stress though, it'll start again.  Easier said than done, I know. Take care and keep us posted. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

Just remember... you will not lose every day, you will not lose every week, sometimes more than one week will pass and the scale wont move, sometimes we lose inches and not pounds... it took time to put the weight on - it takes time to take it off as well. Try taking a break from that scale and focus on more important things like nutrition (protein!!), getting in your water and exercise. Since you are early out make sure you are measuring your meals and sticking to your meal guidelines... this will reassure you that you are eating and drinking enough.  Its rough for everybody early out... we all want to see results... which you will - just need to be patient! Its normal for stalls during weight loss... our bodies sometimes need to rest and readjust... the only time to get worried is when you dont lose pounds OR inches for FOUR weeks or longer... thats when changes need to be made! Just hang in there and that scale will move again :-)

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1

(((((Carol)))))

These stalls or plateaus, whatever you choose to call them, are NORMAL and expected!  It is your body catching up with your weight loss.  I love them because that is when I lose the most inches.  I rely much more on my tape measure than I do a scale.  Are you measuring?  I carry my weight around the belly.  I have lost 11 inches in my belly!  The guy I've dated for 7 years is not supportive either.  He doesn't even discuss it with me.  If I discuss it with him, he'll pat me like a puppy and say "Well, that's nice honey."  And never look up from the paper! LOL  He's not mean about it, but at 280 lbs, he needs to lose weight and would never consider WLS. His only support is "Don't lose too fast or your skin is going to sag... blah blah blah.. Men are not always supportive.  They are mostly into their own things.  I had my weight loss surgery in March and we have discussed my progress maybe twice, at my initiation both times.  My family thinks I have lost my mind having this surgery.. calling it drastic and rolling their eyes and shaking their heads.  I know I'm on my own here and I'm ok with that.  Besides, I have yall and what a blessing YOU have been to me and so many others.  Hang in there Carol.  It'll be ok.  We love you!

Carol -  Stay Strong.  If you need a support group, please attend one.  You are too early out to be discouraged.  The deprivation will make you crazy.  I felt like eating was a chore after surgery. It seemed like i was planning on eating and eating what i was planning on.  Around 6 months my tummy opened up and could hold more food.  THis eliminated the need to eat so frequently. I'm over a year out and still have ups and downs.  My emotions and feelings affect my pouch. Don't be scared of dumping.  I understand the being mad at my husband thing too.  You just need how to speak up so this emotional distress doesn't affect your health. Stay strong you will suceed.  My weight loss did slow down as I increased my carb intake.  I really should eat more protein but I don't.  My experience isn't a good one, but you will do better. Stay Strong and reach out to other's who are going through the same thing.  Sadly, our tool won't fix our emotions, only we can fix that.  Good Luck!!!   JT
