I had my first appointment with my family doctor yesterday.  He has never been for any type of weight loss help.  I was prepared to let him know that I had made up my mind to do the lap band procedure after much research on the internet.     He told me that he would recomend this over gastric bypass.  He was very positive and told me when I had decided on a doctor to let him know and he would set up the appointment.  He only had one request.....that I choose a surgeon that had done several lap band procedures.  I was so excited when I left his office.       Today I called my insurance company to make sure that the lap band procedure is covered with Dr. Bour as surgeon.  YEEEEEHHAAAAAWWWWWWWW   He is!!!!    So now I am waiting on a call back from my family doctor with an appointment date with Dr. Bour.    I am so excited.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  This is fantastic news.  Please keep us posted on your journey.  There are many tests and trials ahead.  Be prepared for 3 months (at least) worth.  Be patient and once you go through the process it is SO well worth it! Many blessings, Diane

I too want to congratulate you.  As Diane said you have alot to do to prepare for your surgery.  I can remember what I felt like when I first started.  I thought I would never get all of the preop stuff done.  I finally have it all behind me and have my apt with the surgeon scheduled.  It is so unreal.  I can't even sleep at night anymore, because I am so excited.  I wish you lots of luck.  I can tell you to post any questions you have on this web site.  I learned so much and got so much support.  It is really great.  Be strong and go to all of your apts and soon you will be done with it all.   Stacy

Congrats. I have began my journey as well. Now I am waiting for all results to come back so paper work can be submitted to the insurance company.. These are all of the things I had to do    1. I met with my doctor at Central Carolina Surgery .   2. I had to go to Spectrum lab to do blood work - to prove no blood issue..    3. Went to a Nutritional - Told me the foods and liquids I would eat before and after surgery and then the gradual change..   4. Went to Dr. Lurey ( the psychologist) - This was weird because it is not seeing a regular doctor. It was okay though. No, I didn't lay down on a couch. LOL   5. Went to Wesley Long for a Breath Tek H Pylori - a breathing test to check for bacteria or potential problems...   6. Met with a Bariatric Nurse to discuss the advantages and Disadvantages of having surgery..   Now it is the waiting game. The clock is ticking..
