Jamella- You sound like me but I have submitted to ins yet. Try and be patient and get some shut eye. The phone will be ringing before you know it! Wendy

Good luck Jamella! I'm not familiar with your insurance company, but response times vary. Try to put it out of your mind for a week, then if you haven't heard anything call them. I did, that's how I found out that there had been a breakdown in communication with my doctor's office and they were waiting on paperwork. I pray you'll hear something really soon. Take care and hang in there. ~Ellen

Hi Jamella - It's nice to meet you. My name is Barbara and I live in "The Triangle." I am using Duke Weight Loss Center in Durham NC. I think we must both be in about the same place in "the process." My "package" and letter of medical necessity was submitted to my insurance 4/25/07. I didn't bother anyone the first week, but now I call the insurance to check the status of my "pre-certification" (aka Approval). They are very nice and let me know where it is in the process ... and contractually how many days they have to return an answer. I think that some insurance companies are very good about turning things around quickly. I know that mine is a slow bereaucracy ... I have United Health Care Secure Horizons. Like you, I'm nervous that they might not approve it for some reason. I am assume that if my Dr.'s who have a great deal of experience felt I was ready to submit for approval, that they chances that the insurance will approve are pretty good. If they don't, I assume that they will want "more" of something. If that happens, I'll just have to work to provide whatever they find lacking. I'm mostly trying keep a positive attitude, while waiting for what I hope will be good news. If you want to talk with someone going through the same thing at the same time, please feel free to contact me. I'm sure that you'll hear some good news soon. As you wait, I will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best. Barb
