I'm going to my surgeon's office tomorrow for the first meet and my nerves have suddenly went nuts! I thought I was organized and ready for the consult. Anyone else get nerves like this? Even the medications aren't helping!! I'm an ever-loving W-R-E-C-K! I'm not even getting nervous when thinking about the surgery and all the what-if-something-goes-wrongs... I'm a goober! Nerves SUCK. Sorry... Thanks for the rant.

I was nervous before my first appointment, and before every subsequent appointment thereafter. I think it's because this is so important to me I wanted it to go right. I was just nervous that they would say, nope, you aren't a good candidate or something. This too shall pass. You'll be fine. Good luck. Take care. ~Ellen

I feel your pain... I had insurance approval before I ever made the surgeon appointment. I'm still afraid they will say no when I get there. It's very important to me, too. I want my life back. Good Luck!

You find yourself in an enviable position. Since you already have your insurance approval, you WILL be having your surgery. You are "coming to the table" with something that is generally a rare commodity. Do you realize how much money the Dr.'s office has to spend to get someone's insurance approval? It's almost as though you come with a built-in bonus. So take a deep breath and decide what is important to you as you go throught this process and check to be sure that they can and will provide the services you need and want. i.e., types of surgery, anesthesia, nutritional and exercise support, counseling, support groups, etc. If not, there are plenty of good programs out there. So, try not worry about whether they will accept you into their program. If you've cleared the insurance hurdle, they will. They need to concerned that they will meet all of YOUR needs. YOU are in the driver's seat. YOU are PAYING for their expertise and advice. I hope that helps some. Barb P.S. I'll be delighted when I can say I have insurance approval.

Good luck to you! I had my insurance approve it before I finally decided on a surgeon... and that might change when I meet him and his staff tomorrow! I've been 'shopping' for the right one. I wasn't going to just have someone in there probring around because that's the one my PCP or ins. co favored. This isn't something I could go into lightly. It's my first surgery and when you have been researching for two years, I just don't think it's possible to jump onto the first table that pops up. I've been all over this state and half of Georgia! I wanted to go to Duke SOOOOO badly. Went to the seminar after checking out many others and came out an angry, crying mess. I found Beth the rudest, big-headed ego I've ever encountered. So if you can deal with her, I have no doubt you will be in great hands and they should have you ready in no time!
