Well, a set back....
Spoke with Hickory Surgical today to get my paperwork going on forward. I was hospitalized in early december for depression (MY choice) and low potassium. My psychiatrist and my Family practitioner have both cleared me for the surgery. Reason I went in for depression , was Christmas was coming up and I wanted my meds adjusted quicker so I could get in a much better mood for Christmas!
Anyways... Hickory Surgical informs me... I have to wait ONE WHOLE YEAR after the hospitiliztion for depression. This is about the 3rd of 4th time something has put it on hold.
So anyways.. I am not going to give up. Had myself a good cry today. Gonna try weigh****chers again. Try something else when i gain my weight back from that... LOL.. anyways I do appreciate all the support you guys have given me the last few days.
Thank you

Becky,
it seems as if it never rains but pours. Don't give up hope, just keep jumping through the hoops they keep putting in front of you and before you know it a year will have passed and you'll be on you way.
May I make a suggestion? Instead of wasting your money on weigh****chers try your own diet style. This is what I did prior to surgery.
1) stopped drinking sweet drinks, switched to sugar free, like crystal lite, lipton's diet green tea (this is great)
2) always eat protein first:
breakfast: oatmeal, 1 scrambled egg w/ turkey bacon, yogurt, cottage cheese w/ fresh fruit
lunch: chili, lean deli meats w/ low fat cheese, place cheese in center of meat and roll up. Grilled chicken breasts, low fat chicken salad w/ lettuce and tomatoes, grilled hamburger w/cheese (no bun)
dinner: grilled/broiled/baked chicken, lean pork loin/chops
lean steak, fried (pam) flounder, shrimp
snacks: fresh fruit, sugar free jello w/ lite cool whip/ jello brand sugar free pudding, bryer's no sugar added ice cream pops (yum)
little or no carbs, if you must have carbs only have a 1/4 of a cup
the sky is the limit, just use your imagination, go into a web search for "healthy eating", low fat, low carb, no sugar.
Foodnetwork tv has a great healthy eating section on their site.
Best of luck and don't give up the fight.

Thanks DOnna.. Nope. I ain't giving up! I'm going to go with your suggestions.. Darn thing about it is i'm doing a lot of them anyway. BUT, Sweets are my killer. So that's where i'm gonna have to lock down on it. I'm now giving up. I refuse to. I'm taking this as another test.
Thanks for your help

Becky,
I just want to say that pretty much just SUCKS! I suffer with severe depression and am on two kinds of meds. I have listed the depression and meds from day one and not once has anyone from my group mentioned it. As a matter of fact, it was discuss at the orientation meeting that often depression becomes resolved after the surgery.
I don't mean to be negative but I'm just really sad for you. Any chance of changing surgical groups? Just a thought. At this point, a year would seem like an eternity to me.
Your attitude is great and will serve you well. I wish you all the best.
