Hi All :help:
Hello Amanda,
I have lost over 100 pounds, and from what I have learned is there is no way to firm up that amount of skin, unless you are very young and only been large for a short time. I work out 3-5 days a week at Curves ( LOVE IT ) , and although I do have the skin issue, it is empty skin, no longer filled with fat and it is not so heavy .
It sometimes really makes me mad that people ( not gastric people ) , ask about " what will you do about the skin " duh, why ask someone that, you never ask me " why are you so big " before the surgery. Some people can say the worst things. Could be since the thought of plastic surgery is almost completely not ever gonna happen for , because I had to self pay for my RNY, I get a little upset. Okay I have skin, bat wings and the belly thing ,,, and yes it sucks and is ugly BUT.............. I can keep up on a walk , I can workout , I can do yard work , I can wear a size 12 pants, so who gives a hoot about skin
Good Luck
Allison
I am 6 months out and down almost 60lbs... I have 40lbs left to my goal and I already can tell I will need plastic surgery! I dont think everybody HAS to have PS but I would say the majority would want it... I would say there is always going to be something we arnt 100% happy with the way it looks. I still have quite a bit of weight in my stomach but the skin is already getting wrinkly and I see it getting more and more wrinkly and not tightening up. Also my "chicken wings" have definately gotten worse the more weight ive lost because the top of my arm is more toned and the bottom more hangy :/ I have a friend who lost 200+lbs... her upper arms are still big, her upper legs are a little saggy and her stomach looks like somebody who had a baby (all wrinkly and a little loose). For losing that much weight she looks GREAT... any PS she would have would be for cosmetic reasons.
