Good luck. I am going through Duke too. I am scheduled for surgery 1/9/07. I went to the seminar in July and then sent my packet in Aug with my first visit 10/25. There was a miscommunication in my chart that held up my file, but once they realized all the tests were there everything has been pretty quick. They sent my file to insurance 12/8 and since I have 2 insurances they had to wait for the denial on the first to submit to the second to cover it. I got approval 12/22 but of course it took time for BCBS to notify me and Duke WLS. Beth called me on 12/29 and scheduled me to meet my surgeon 1/5, pre-op 1/8, and surgery 1/9. So don't get discourage. It will all work in your favor pretty quickly. Amanda

The Duke program is great! I had my RNY with Dr. McMahon back in 5/04 and have been very happy with the entire program...well except for the super skinny psychologists who kinda get on my nerves I think Hillary Blackwood (the nurse) is a godsend. She has given me so much support and encouragment that i am so grateful to have met her. I have just had a lower body lift on 12/12 and feel like i am finally starting to see myself as 'normal' after years and years of being obese. it's a great feeling. I wish you both the best with your surgeries. You're in great hands

Good Luck!! I'm in the Duke program also. I just completed the medical/surgical review and I'm now off to insurance!! I hope it goes smoothley. My first consult was August 28, I had all my tests and everything completed but ran into a road block with my thyroid. My TSH levels was out of whack and had to get it under control. I have UHC/EPO insurance and have heard that they are pretty easy to deal with, so I'm hoping that is true. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we'll be going thru this together.

I will be going through the Duke program, too. My husband is currently in Medical review, so I'm waiting on him to get through, or at least get a date before I start the process. I have known Brandy Morris in the office since kindergarten!
