Self Pay, doing it anyway,

Hey guys and gals, its been a while since Ive posted. I have been just reading your posts and enjoying every one of them. I really love this site. I talked to my patient rep. today and she says the deal with HealthSouth will be complete this week. So I will be getting a call to set up my final Dr. visit to get my date.Praise God! Hello there. I admire the self-pay thing. I'm having trouble with insurance and I have been considering the self-pay option. I think I'd do it too. There has to be more life on the other side. Hello All, not only do I live I in Indian Trail , I am a self pay girl. After trying everything to have my insurance pay.... I knew I had 2 choices--- die and leave it like that , OR ------ finance the surgery ( thanks retirement account ) and live... so I did the second choice. I had my RNY on March 14th 2006 and I have no regrets, best cash ever spent. Also Presby Hospital gave me a 25 percent cash discount also the my wonderful surgeron , Dr Melkonian gave me a price reduction,,, okay still it cost a pretty penny , but worth it , the final cost for me was around $26,000 . Now for the good part, I FEEL WONDERFUL , I have gone from a size 28 to a 12-14 . I spoke with Joy last night ( another OH family ) , we all must get together and chat , so lets put our heads together and come up with a little meeting somewhere ,,, resturant local to us all . HI Allison, Just wanted to say WOW on your weight loss journey!! You must feel so great. Im so happy for you, I just love hearing about everyones success on OH. It just makes me want to have this wls as soon as possible. My date is Jan 16 and it cant come soon enough for me, Im really looking forward to it and getting into a healthy life style finally. Its amazing how far you come and I hope I can do as good a job as you have. the closer my date comes the more nervous I am but its a good nervous if you know what I mean. I know the day my hubby is driving me to the hospital I will be scared as heck but it will all be worth it Im sure. I get so many people on OH helping me and giving me such great advice that it doesnt seem like its going to be bad at all. I will get through this and be a happier healthy person for it.
