Cinderellen?
Hi Diane! Congratulations on your surgery date! I'm jealous, my packet has been sent off, but I don't expect to hear anything for a while. Your profile says your surgeon is Dr. Naziri. Does that mean you're having it done at PCMH? I'd love to hear about your experiences. I am with Dr. Chapman.
I haven't been to the Dixie Queen yet, but I hear it's good. Guess I'll have to try it out sometime.
Thanks for saying hello. It's nice to meet you.

hi Cinderellen. may i jump in?
i had surgery with Dr Chapman at PittMemorial on 12-15. My RNY was done laproscopically and i was in on friday out sunday. dr chapman was great and the nurses excellent--i'm a nurse myself and we have a rep to be the pickiest patients
I can only recomment him and his staff! the day of surgery was scary at first-- fear of giving up control to others is not easy i guess--but the staff was so kind and skilled that in no time i had my IV started and received Ativan and Versed ( anti anxiety and an amnesia meds) By the time they rolled me to the OR I was relaxed. all i remember is assisting to move myself on the table and i was out. email me if you have more Questions, ok?! wishing you the very best! btw, I was 253.5 lbs on day of surgery and I', 238 today--not even 2 weeks out! I'm just so grateful to see other ppl like me here. so many times I feel like the only overweight person around and nobody really get's it except for someone who is going through the same thing.
Take care,
Sabine
Hey Sabine, nice to meet you. I'm glad you had such a positive experience. Makes me feel better about my future. Dr. Chapman seemed calm and knowledgeable, someone that I'm willing to trust with this. The only thing I have to be careful with is that I'm allergic to Diprovan, which is the most commonly used anesthesia. I want to be awake enough to remind the anesthesiologist of that. I was thinking of writing it in permanent ink on my forehead.
Anyway, good luck with your weight loss. Please keep us posted.

Yes, Ellen, I am having it at PCMH. It is so good to have someone so close going through this experience. You too, Jacksonville. I have been on the main messageboard because there are so many postings that I need to hear right now. I would love to see more activity on the NC board.
This has happened rather fast. Kinda. I went through the months of clearance appointments and research on my part. My insurance, (which I believed would be my stumbling block) approved in three days. I wish I had a little time to catch my breath, (Christmas and all!) but I want to go ahead and get the surgery behind me.
I ate at Dixie Queen tonight. I can get steamed seafood and veggies. I think it will be a keeper restaurant. It has been my husband's favorite since we married. I just turned 56. Spent my adult married fat. Tired of it. TIRED OF IT!!!!
Stay in touch. All of you.
Diane
Hi Ellen.
Just wanted to say dont worry, Im sure you will hear something soon on your surgery date. It took BCBS 2 months to give me a date. I was denied the end of Nov. did an appeal, never heard from them but then my surgeons office did an appeal for me and got an answer on Ded 22 that I was approved. My surgery date is Jan 16!
Cant wait for it to be done and over with. I never thought it was going to happen for me but now that it is Im a nervous wreck wondering how its going to turn out.
I have so many things going through my head, especially at night. I cant sleep just thinking of everything. Well, I know in the long run it will work out because I need this more then anything. I wish You lots of luck and hope you hear something soon.
Keep us posted

Hey Diane. Snow Hill here and have one more preop appointment on friday. My surgeon is Dr Enochs in Louisburg. Am having Lapband. I am a nurse and this really felt more comfortable and a better fit for me. I hope I get a date soon and hope I have no trouble with my insurance (UHC) when they get all my paperwork. Hope to have surgery maybe in late Jan or Feb. Am so ready and excited.
