Hospital Stay

I am having my RNY on January 16. Can anyone tell me how long the hospial stay is? some tell me its only a day, some say two days. Im not sure and I want to start getting ready and know what things to bring with me and so on. If anyone can give me any advice Id really apprecate it. Thanks Denise

Your doctor should tell you. My doc, Dr. Bauman in Concord, NC, has RNY patients stay two days. I wasn't released until day 3 because I was having problems with nausea and not getting protein down. Good luck with your surgery!

Denise It varies from doctor to doctor, but I think the average is about two nights in the hospital. I don't remember anyone getting out in one day, but they must have had the lapband procedure. I personally was in the hospital for six weeks, but that is another long story. Good luck. Larry PS...You are living in my hometown. I used to love it there, but wouldn't move back for anything due to all of the growth. My sister still lives there.

Thank you Larry I see my surgeon on Jan 9th so Im sure he will let me know then. I think your right about the 2 day stay. Hope all is well with you.
