Question
I have a question for those of you that have had the RNY. I am scheduled to have my surgery on January the 23rd. I smoked about 3/4 pack of cigerettes a day for the past 10 years. I quit for about 6 months when I found out that I was eligible for the RNY. I started back when I began to get frustrated with the whole being denied by BCBS. When I found out that my appeal was approved, I quit again. I have found it very hard to not smoke and now I am smoking not even two cigerettes a day. I am really trying to quit completely but it is hard. My boyfriend owns a night club so I am surrounded by people smoking on the weekends. I am still only smoking two a day if that. I will light up and then I will put it out aftera couple of drags. Then I will go back to it a couple of hours later, light it up again and put it out after a couple of drags. I know that it slows the healing process but I want to know if what I am doing is okay until I can put them down completely? I know that I will be in the hospital for a few days unable to smoke so I think that time will break me completely. I had to ahve surgery about 11 years ago and was in the hospital for 2 days and I was ably to quit for about a year and a half. Has anybody had this problem before? I was also able to quit smoking when I became pregnant with both of my children. I was able to not smoke for a couple of years with each pregnancy. Any opinions or knoweledge would be helpful.
