Durham/Raleigh Help finding WLS Friendly Primary Physican
I had my surgery in Pa and moved to Durham a year ago. The only Surgeons who are approved by Fed Blueshield are insisting a $500 deposit because I didn't have my surgery with them. I can't afford it at all, and they won't take payments. They won't even talk to me unless I pay this fee. Well, its not possible. So, next step would be to have a family physican who knows something about this surgery and will follow up with the correct blood work, etc. Does anyone know any Doctors who fit this description? I have the WORST family physician who knows NOTHING at all about WLS. Shes awful. I don't know where to turn. Thanks to anyone who could help. I feel so lost with the doctor issues and knowing noone in this area. 
Well you can try my doctor's office. I have been going to them for 20+ years and so has my entire family. My mom has had the surgery and she goes there for her blood work, so they clearly must have some knowledge of what is going on. They do accept BCBS, and pretty much every single other insurance. They are called Raleigh Family Practice. They are located at Rex Hospital and their number is (919) 875-0539. My Dr. is Dr. Gary Bean, I am not sure if he is taking on new patients or not but I am sure that someone in the practice over there is. But regardless they are very good at what they do, and they just moved into a new office so it's all clean and pretty! Give them a call and tell them what you need, I'd be willing to bet they would be more than able to help you out.
