Update....Insulin

My PCP put me on Insulin to help get my blood glucose down. Its the slow acting kind and Im taking 35 units per day which I have discovered from talking to others is a lot. At first he was talking about something else to "try" and I said I didnt want to try anything else, I wanted something that would work. It is working, but not as fast as I would hope. After meals, my BS will spike but not nearly as high as it used to. Without a meal, it is usually running about 130 to 150 which is very very very low for me. I usually start feeling the symptoms of low BS when I get below 140. Anybody else have experience with insulin? When you first start on it does it take a while to push the BS down to the normal range? Should I try to get some of the faster acting Insulin also? I am going Friday to get my Fructosamine checked. I hope it is down enough but right now I think it will take a little longer to get it down. Ill just have it checked every wee****il it is good. My surgeon wont give me a surgery date until it is down to (I think) 200. Wish me luck.

Hi RM. I can't speak to the insulin questions, but I just wanted to say good luck. It's been a long journey for you and you're getting close. Keep on keeping on. Good luck and keep us posted. ~Ellen
