Hello! My name is Jamella and I am new to this website. I think I joined it about a month ago but didn't follow through but now I'm here for good. I live in Salisbury, NC at the present time but have live in Charlotte, Durham and several NC areas. I am a newbie in all aspects of the word. I have decided that I want to have the surgery but not sure yet which one. I just recently found out that my insurance does pay for the surgery with restrictions. I am in need of any pertinent information. I am overwhelmed and really not sure where to start but I will be forever grateful for any and all help. Thanks!

Welcome! I know it is overwhelming.... What I did was to just get online and read everything I could find on the different procedures. When I found out that my insurance only would pay for a roux-en-y (not lap band), I focused on that procedure. I was leaning that way anyway as people don't generally lose as much with the lap band (although I understand it is more easily adjusted). Have you talked with a surgeon yet? My surgeon, Dr. Enochs, has support group meetings (in Raleigh) and you get a lot of information there. Maybe your surgeon has something similiar? Also this site is AWESOME! So much info and support. I've found it invaluable! Good luck!
