Where are the best places to live in NC?

Hi all, I am in the process of moving to NC and am looking into the areas with the best school systems in them for the kiddies of course. Which areas have them? I am at a loss right now but would like to narrow my search down a bit. Which areas are the best to live in period? We would like to be within 25 miles of the Uptown Charlotte (downtonwn area for hubby's work...I think they call it uptown). Any info would be appreciated greatly. Thanks to all of you for your help. I live in Concord NC. It's outside Mecklenburg county which is where I grew up but I love it here. It's small but big if that makes sense. The schools are great here, that is the reason my husband and I built here when we were getting married 7 1/2 years ago. Our son isn't ready for school yet we have another year and half before he starts school but we are very happy we are here. My MIL lives in Huntersville, her sister also lives there and her kids are in school Jr High and High school. They like them but the problem up there is over crowding. Not enough schools for the growth of the area. Good luck in your move...Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. Thank you so much Kim. I am having one heck of a time figuring out which area is which. But then it's that long distance thing. I know once we finally get there it will make more sense. I will start looking in those areas...but I do see what you mean about the schools in some areas, the student to teacher ratio is really high in some areas.
