New to this board

Hello, I'm Kristi... check out my blog (kristi911). I'm in NC also, just outside of Charlott. I am planning my surgery with Dr. Melkonian. Hope for sometime in January. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used him and has an opinion either way. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your replies! Kristi

Hi Kristi! Welcome to the board! I didn't use Dr. Melkonian but alot of people in my support group has used him. They all have really nice things to say about him. The weight loss surgery will change your life dramatically. I had surgery January 10th 2006 and I have lost 125 lbs thus far. My starting weight was 274 and I know weigh 149. It is very hard at first but it becomes second nature pretty quickly. You'll find very quickly that your new pouch is the boss. Whenever it says not another bite you need to listen. I could rattle on all day about my experiences. If you have any questins you want to ask feel free to email me and I'll be glad to answer them if I can. Hey Kristi, my name is tameria, and I live in Monroe too. I too am a pre-op waiting anxiously on my date to be set. I will be having the lapband. My next step is Pre-op Dr. visit at which time they will give me my surgery date. This should be in Jan. It,s nice to know there is someone from Monroe traveling on the journey with me.Talk to you soon, Tameria
