I'M GAINING WEIGHT

Hello I'm 2 yrs and 8 months out of open RNY lost intially 189 lbs and since April I have gained 22 lbs....Help me. What is going on? I have had anemia since January and had to have iv iron in September, I also have low blood sugar, no energy, depressed deeply over no energy, gaining weight..Etc. I've tried it all going back to post op menu, walking when I feel like it, I feel as though I'm in a down hill spiral getting out of control....Nothing seems to be working. I need help!! Donna, I had all your problems except gaining weight and when my PCP did bloodwork, they found that my B-12 was in the floor. I got a shot that day and another in a week and I get them monthly thereafter. The difference was immediate. Have you had bloodwork done lately? Are you sliding back to old eating habits? Winter makes us drag somewhat and that usually means a few added pounds. Good luck and keep us posted!! Pegi

Donna Have them check your thyroid levels also. no energy, depression and weight gain is also a sign of underactive thryoid. May just be B12, but to be on the safe side. G.

taking my iron supplement makes me tired feeling...weird, I know, but I experimented with each supplement and I saw the biggest difference when I am taking iron, but I have to take it, so I upped my protein to approx 100 grams a day and now I feel better. HTH... I'll be thinking of you.

Hey Donna, long time no talk!! Please email me directly @ [email protected] . I think that I can help you with the eating part of things...but you do definitely need to have your blood levels checked thoroughly to rule out an underlying problem. Hugs to you, dear. Myra
