You could be experience lactose intolerance... maybe try making your shakes with lactaid or soy milk (light) instead of regular milk. Also the temperature could be effecting your pouch - try different temps and see what it likes. I know for me, even at 4 months out, really cold liquids bother my belly!

Hi Diane. Sounds like you are experiencing head hunger. I am pre-op, but read on here constantly, and what I read over and over again with new post-ops is that they have to deal with their head thinking that they should eat more than they can. Part of it is out of habit, you are just plain used to eating more than what you can now. Part of it is because most of us eat for emotional reasons, and after the surgery, we no longer have our comfort/ friend, food. I understand that this passes after a couple of weeks and that the best thing you can do is distract yourself until it passes. Go for a walk, read a book, etc. The only thing I would say is that you should review the diet guidelines that your doctor gave you and make sure you are getting what you need. Just some thoughts. Take care and keep us informed of your progress. Enjoy the journey! ~Ellen

I am 15 months out and I remember those days well. When I would drink I would feel like it was having a big heart attack. But it got better. Just remember little baby sips. I can now drink big sips. It still hurts some time. I got hungry at first. Then a few days later I hated food. I would cry when it was time to eat. I still don't like any food. I have to make myself eat. I am down to 95 lbs this morning. I just can't stand the look or the smell of food. I have been throwing up almost the whole time. Just got out of the hospital a week ago. Was in there for 8 days getting jars of fat run in me. The doctor said some thing about undoing my gbs. I told him a big no... I would just die skinny. I have had a taste of skinny and it is good.. Good luck to ya. Have a blessed day. amy
