Recent denial from Aetna

I have been working on my gastric bypass surgery for the past 5 months now and just got my 1st rejection from my insurance company (Aetna). I picked doctor Enochs after reading a number of positive posts on this forum in regards to his bedside manner, surgical ability, staff, ability to work with insurance companies etc... Now I must take matters into my own control and am wondering if anyone has had experience doing the appeals process with insurance companies or more specifically with Aetna. I'm not sure what to expect, but I do not want to let this fall by the wayside. Any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I use to work for an insurance comapny (cigna) and also had to go thru BCBS appeals process (I was denied 3 times before approval). If you want to email me directly I can give you some info!! Just let me know their reason for denial. Also, you may want to contact the NCDOI - they can give you lots of information and tips about appealing.
